Your monitor and your TV are currently screen 1 and screen 2 with screen 2 as an extension of screen 1 (you can move your mouse all the way across and see it come over to the TV screen). With Vista or Windows 7, right click on the desktop (no icons or programs) and choose Screen Resolution. There you will find options to change your screen output. (The choices are fairly straight forward - both screens identical, screen 1 or screen 2.) For XP, the right click on the desktop will get you to the point but I think it was called Display Options.

I hope this helps.

Again what OS are you using? Then I may be of more help. (Just walked over to the laptop with the 2 display setup - Screen Resolution, Multiple monitors (Win7).) Once that was set up, there is actually a quick three simultaneous key strokes command to switch back and forth (F1 for external monitor, F3 for the laptop monitor - single screens).

The Control Panel Display options is another place to set up the monitor arrangement. What graphics card driver are you using? I can't rule out that you need to adjust something in the graphics controls. (My ATI drivers (desktop) and my laptop's (intel drivers) are also accessible with that right click on the desktop.)

BTW, did you reboot after connecting the computer to the TV with the TV on? At least on my older computer (still running Win7) the plug-and-play drivers don't synch and let me swap monitors until I reboot a second time.

Emerson hdmi not working

Double check to see if your TV can support the resolution that your laptop is using. You can try reducing the resolution on your laptop to one supported by your TV.

If the laptop is configured to use the HDMI port as a second (in Windows 7, you can configure multi-monitor support in the display preferences) you will need to adjust the resolution for that monitor.

Failing that, try rebooting your laptop with the TV plugged in - I have found in some cases that this helps the system to propery detect a new display.

I switched my ps3 from one tv to my vizio, and the voices of the characters arent being heard, but all of the background noise is. i have it hooked up with an hdmi cable, and the video is fine. i checked...

Shot in the dark here, but sometimes HDMI cables get a little discombobulated... Try doing a hot plug by powering both the TV and the PS3 up and then removing the HDMI cable from both of them at the same time. Wait 1 minute, then plug them both back in at the same time. Good luck!

Trying to hook up my panasonic tc-p50c2 to comcast hd digital cable box and cant get it to work with hdmi cord..nothing is showing

Use only the hdmi cord to hook it up and go to menu on the tv and select hdmi for hook up and you should get a picture. Make sure your cable cord is the only cord running to the cable box , you don't need any other cord.

I have my PS3 and TV hooked up to the HDMI ports. I have programmed the unit to show them under TV and DVD respectivly. When I change the source to TV or DVD, nothing shows up on my TV as expected

Sounds like you hooked them both up to HDMI input ports. Make sure that the PS3 is connected to an HDMI input port on the AVR-1508, and that the TV is connected to an HDMI output port (not an input).

Hdmi to panasonic tv no desktop display only

I can help with getting your desktop onto your TV, but sound from your computer through HDMI can be much trickier.

If you only see a background picture on your TV, then your desktop has been either "extended" or "stretched" onto it. It is essentially a second independent monitor and you can drag applications over to it to see them.

To view your desktop and start menu on your TV, you need to run ati catalyst and "clone" your TV with your computers monitor. Do this by right clicking the picture of the second monitor in the catalyst display manager and choosing "clone". Now your tv and your monitor act as one.

Although i tried 3 different ati cards with hdmi outs that claimed to pump audio through hdmi, none of them worked for my HP PC. You will need a grey widget adaptor between your computer and the hdmi cable. In the end though, there's a conflict between my sound card and ATI's HDMI audio that cannot be resolved. So I run a digital SPDIF signal instead through an rca cable and get 5.1 dolby at my amp that way. Good luck.

How to hook up a hp pavilion laptop to a hdtv

if it worked fine at some point then it should work fine now... i use hdmi to hdmi from my laptop to tv all the time dvi would only cause quality loss.

the first thing i would try would be to change your resolution on your laptop to a couple different settings. a lot of times, if its not set to one thats compatible with your tv, you won't see anything.

if that doesn't work, go to personalization and open the tab that says "connect an external display" and toy around with it. but yeah it doesn't sound like you have any hardware problems there.

hope this helps
