there is likely a wire that goes from your brake pedal switch to the trailer brake controller this wire is probably broken or not hooked up. if it is hooked up and no wires are broken I would start making sure everything is hooked up right.
Yes it does. The emergency brake wire is a safety feature. If you don't have it hooked up it won't even display anything. If you do have it hooked up then you have to have the emergency brake engaged to be able to view DVD'S. The manufacturer does this so people can't just unhook the brake wire and watch DVD'S while driving
look under the hood and check the brake booster. this is the part behind the master cylinder where you would put the brake fluid. on the brake booster there should be a large vaccum hose make sure this is hooked up and the other end is hooked up. ......your peadle is so hard because the brake booster is'nt getting any vuccum.
First try a 12 volt "stab in" test light pushed into the blue wire at the brake controller. Red is brake feed from the truck, black is 12 volt power and white is ground. If all is wired correctly, the blue wire should power up when you hit the brakes. Be sure to turn the controller up to highest setting to test it. When you hook the test light up, the connection indication light should come on. Then turn red when you hit the brakes. Also see http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx for more info.
you need to hook up the foot brake like it said but hook up a switch on the parking brake wire to ground do not hook it up to parking brake just a switch ground one side ant togle it while your foot is on the brake once the screen is on leave the switch in that position you will have to do this every time you turn the car off but you can see the screen while driving
I take it the blinkers and brake lights work ok when not hooked up to the trailer? If yes, then the wiring to the tow hitch is not hooked up correctly. How many wires to trailer pig tail connection? U can have up to 7 depending on what you tow. Check to make sure these wires are hooked up from the truck to tow plug correctly: 7 wired--- brown-Rt turn and brake light, yellow-backup, white-ground, blue-electric brake, green-tail running lights, black-battery charger, red-left turn signal and brake light. Let me know if u have something other than 7 wire, I'll get the wiring color and source info for u.
Don't even bother hooking it up to the e-brake. You can bypass
the e-brake. Take the peach-colored wire and ground it to metal inside
the dash. Put a toggle switch inline on the wire and mount it somewhere
you can reach it. When you get the blue screen when starting a movie,
open the switch for 3-5 seconds, then close it again to reapply the
ground. Your movie will start up, and you can then drive away with it
playing. The bonus is that you can play a DVD while driving, and you also don't have to worry about tapping into the wrong wire and potentially damaging the head unit.
