Put new SD card in (Micro Center brand) can only read card when I plug camera into computer cannot read card when I plug card into computer. Card slot on computer works on my Nikon card.

I guess you put the SD adapter into the card reader right out of the box? You first may have to partition/format it after unpacking it. what is the size of the card you are putting there? before go at hw you must try and see if the size of the card is supported. in some Mobile phones if is larger than supported there will be error in reading
