Whirlpool GU2400XTP Built-in Dishwasher Logo

My Whirlpool GU2400XTP dishwasher keeps blowing the fuse. It sat up for 6months because the control panel went out and I couldn't afford to get a new one. Finally replaced the panel and the thermal fuse blew during the first wash cycle. I tried to put a 15AMP fuse in it's place to check it out before I bought a new thermal fuse and it too blew during the first cycle. Any ideas?

Are you replacing the wires along with the fuse? It is important to change the wires too as they are usually the cause for the fuse blowing. Be sure and get the fuse kit that includes the wires.

Is your water too hot? Hot water is fine but too hot of water can cause the fuse to blow over time. The temp should be somewhere around 120 F. Anything over 130 F is way too hot. I personally don't use a long high steam final rinse or high heat because over time the steam and cause the electronics to short as steam and moisture can get into the keyboard and inside panel.

Why isnt my dishwasher powering up

assuming the power circuit breaker is ok and you are getting power to the dishwasher itself, there are other factors that could lead to an outcome of dishwasher not appearing to be powering up.
The most likely cause is power supply inside dishwasher is faulty, the controller is faulty or simply the dishwasher display panel is faulty.
More likely the dishwasher has suffered a "thermal" trip. The thermal fuse located in the control panel on the door has blown. You may need to replace it. It is item 6 on this diagram

No front panel lights Whirlpool GU2500XTPB1. Power to dishwash is good.

Hello,

what most likely is going to be the problem is a blown thermal fuse that attaches to the control panel housing. gain access to the control panel and use should see the thermal fuse, the housing for the control board is grey and this part is white.Remove the wires to it and check for contininity on it (ZERO OHMS) using a ohm meter set to a low ohms setting. If it turns out to be good the next thing to check is the switch(s) on the latch asm using the same method to check them as the fuse.BEFORE CHECKING EITHER OF THOSE BE SURE TO DISCONNECT POWER TO THE DISHWASHER

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner 3. It sat up for a few months because the control panel went out and it took a while to save up and order a new one. Now it blew the thermal fuse. I put a 15amp...

A 15amp automotive fuse is rated for a 12VDC system in an automobile, not a 125VAC houshold electrical system in an appliance. I don't think your automotive fuse can handle the start current being drawn by the main wash pump as the dishwasher starts. I would recommend you replace the thermal fuse in the dishwasher with an appropriate replacement BEFORE assuming you have a problem with anything else in the dishwasher.

Some Whirlppol manufactured dishwashers had a noted problem with the thermal fuse. The gauge wire used in the control panel would heat up and cause the thermal fuse to blow prematurely. The manufacture's answer was to provide a replacement kit that you were to splice in place that had a larger gauge wire. The thermal fuse replacement kit for Whirlpool dishwashers can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The thermal fuse should be listed under the "Control Panel" parts listing. The average cost is usually about $15 or less.

No power going to front panel on whirlpool dishwasher gu2455xtsso

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, there is a thermal fuse (also known as a bi-metal) located inside the control panel of the dishwasher. The part number for the thermal fuse replacement is W10258275.

If you type in your model number you can utilize the exploded view parts diagrams at pcappliancerepair.com, appliancepartspros.com or searspartdirect.com to assist you in locating the part. The fuse is listed as item 6 under the "Control Panel Parts" section.

To replace the fuse, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the dishwasher is unplugged or the breaker is turned off.

2. Open the door and remove only the top screws directly behind the control panel.

3. Remove the protective cover from back of the control panel to expose the main control board.

The thermal fuse should be mounted to the control board. If you remove it and take a resistance check, it should read close to 0 ohms, if good. If bad, replace as necessary.

If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Change the thermal fuse in the control and door switches. The thermal fuse is designed to fail if there is a problem with the switches.

Whirlpool dishwasher will not start

I have a quiet partner I and it is doing the same thing!
I have only had it for 3 months. It did it once before, then after about a week, I tried it again and it worked fine?
I can't find my warranty anywhere. I bought it at Lowes.
Does anyone have any kind of solution? Looks like it is a common problem.

Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher Model GU2400XTP

There should be a thermal fuse located inside the console on the control board. Most dishwashers have them mounted this way. It's a white square plastic piece, or silver component with two wires connected to it. If the thermal fuse is bad it will give the same symptoms you are describing. To check, you need to turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher and remove the screws holding the console in place. This should be the four or five screws at the top of the door (with the door open). Carefully lift the console off the door (support the wires) and flip it over so you can see the control board. The thermal fuse should be mounted somewhere on the control board. The fuse will read a SHORT if good, an OPEN if bad. The fuse is not resettable (meaning you can't reuse it) and must be replaced. If you need further assistance let me know. I hope this helps you. PS There should be a tech sheet located inside the lower kick panel under the door. This includes all the schematics and troubleshooting tips. You may use this as a reference too.
