Question about Masterbuilt 20070106 Electric Smoker

1 Answer

Heating Element Failure

I have a less than one year old Masterbuilt Digital Smokehouse Model No 20070106, Serial No.Ga040906 that I started up for the first time this spring. It started heating as normal and then just quit. Apparently the heating unit stopped functioning. The digital control indicated it was heating and timer functioning as normal. The heating unit was hot hot enough to be hot to the touch. Are new heating units available? What is the cost ? Is there information available to indicate how to change them.We really like the unit, but it has not lasted very long. I just bought a new Masterbuilt Smoker by default two weeks ago I borrowed a friend’s to smoke about 30lb. of Salmon to then can. Ran the smoker every day for three day. ON my last batch the heating element would not work. Talk about Frustrated! The Smoker was only 2 yrs. old.

Knowing I borrowed I felt I had to replace. So online to Cabelas and I ordered my buddy a new smoker and had it shipped. I then found this website... GOT TO LOVE the internet. I saw many other people had the same problem. Found an Answer...

The Problem was one of the connector to the heating element was poor quality and if you don't clean your smoker on a regular basis. The heat and moister caused the small copper connector to corrode and the wire to come loose. I took a wood chisel and cut off all the rivets on the back. I was then able to pull the back off with no damage and access the small box in the lower back. I found the connector. Went to the hardware store and bought a replacement for .75 cents. A pair of wire crimpers and the problem was fixed. I also bought ½ inch Sheet metal screws to secure the back it was good as new. So I returned the smoker to my buddy and kept the new one. When it arrived I saw Masterbuilt has since fixed the problem and provided an access panel to the element and connectors.

Model 20070410 masterbuilt smoker has the chip tray touching the element. will this burn out the element

Have the same "smokehouse" and faced the same issue today. First, ensure the Wood Chip Grate is rotated so the highest part of the Grate is to the left. Next , place the Water Bowl on the left (that highest part) and the Wood Chip Bowl w/ Lid to the right (balanced on the Grate so it doesn't fall through the supports.

Our electric smokehouse will not heat anymore

Hi hickoxt4076...
Check your electric heating element with an Volt ohm meter and make sure you are getting continuity thru it...if not then replace the element because it is faulty.
Be sure to remove the wires from the unit before checking with the Volt ohm meter
Also be sure to check and make sure you have electricity going to the heating element.

Need a heating Element for a Master Build Digital Smokehouse Model# 20070106 Serial# GA040923

Since the - - -holes @ Masterbuilt told me they don't sell them, and after extensive seraches on the net, I found a company that is making me one for $37.50 plus shipping. (As of August 31, 2011)
Contact: [email protected] and tell him you want to order a heating element identical to one he is making for Lelys. (The mountting plate may be a little different, but all you'll have to do is drill new holes in the new mounting plate.

Good luck!

While using my Masterbuilt smoker (Model 20070106) the temperature began to gradually decrease and now it will not heat at all. I'm sure the heating element needs to be replaced but I am having...

SgtDave - Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. There have been a bunch of people seeking either the burner element and/or the electronic controls. The burner element is available form Appliance Factory Parts, but only with the smoker box. At one time is was sold separately, but now, the element by itself is no longer available. Even Masterbuilt no longer sells just the heating element. In part, if you check your Owner's Manual or the Manufacturer's Data Plate on the smoker, take note of the Country of Origin, you'll understand why.

Wish I could have been of more help to you.

The heating element doesn't come on, the control pad all works and the element ohms out good. where can I get electric parts and a wiring diagram for my 30" Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse?

Hold a warm rag over the end of the thermocouple sticking out of the back, INSIDE the smoker. When the probe gets up to 40F or so the element will turn on and you will be good to go. The computer just doesn't understand whats up when the thermometer gives such a low reading.

This is where I got my manual for my 20070106 manual. You may need to 'drop' out the last bit of stuff so you can get your model number, ie <...>/smokehouse%20models%20esq30b,%20esq30b.pdf

Try that....
