Question about Kodak EasyShare P850 Digital Camera

Camera will not read disc, I have formated disk and have transfered pictures onto disc. Disc is working and can view pictures from disc on my computer. when I put disc in camera I keep get message to formate I have done this several times and still camera will not read disc.

If you have moved pics from your computer to the card and then inserted the card into your camera, the card is now formatted to the computer, not the camera. You're supposed to format the card in the camera.

if you have the pictures on the camera(memory card)
try to transfer pictures first using a cardreader. after you transfer all pictures to your computer you can now try to format the memorycard and try it again.

note: it will not work if the memorycard you're using was formatted on a computer before with a fat system and you are now trying to have it read on a computer on an ntfs system.

Card is Full. Can no longer take pictures.
You need to either offload the pictures via your computer or delete pictures from the card before you can continue picture taking.
Do you need a instruction manual so that you can perform either of the operations?

Dvd to prints
You can either
1. Transfer the still pictures from the camcorder to the PC, and then, either
1.1 use your PC software to print the pictures, or
1.2 use an online photo processing lab to print the pictures for you.
OR
2. Take the disc from the camcorder to a local photo printing shop and ask them to print the pictures you want printed.

But first ...
before you can transfer pictures or video from your Canon DC210 to your PC you need to finalise the disc in the camcorder.

You also need to make sure that the DVD drive on your PC is capable of reading a DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-RW format as these are the only disk formats that the DC210 will handle. Not all PC DVD drives can read these formats.

To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then, switch on the camera, put it into playback mode, Press 'Func.', select main menu, select 'disk operations', select 'finalise'. Don't move or shake the camera or switch it off whilst the finalising step is underway - this could cause problems.

Once finalising is complete, take it out of the camcorder and then follow steps 1.1, 1.2 or 2 above.

You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.

One of two things has gone wrong
1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely
2. You have not finalised the disk.

You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

Format Error
First option would be to attempt to read the disk in another DVD player, for example on a PC. If that succeeds then transferring the data can be done via the PC. Another thing to try is to reset your Camcorder - refer to the manual to locate the switch and then try again. If neither works then re-formatting is probably the only answer. Always format the disks in the camcorder - not elsewhere.Good luck.

Format error on a sony digital mvc-fd100
If the disks you are using are new, there is always a possibilty you got a bad batch or you got some that were not pre-formatted, or were formatted for an apple computer. I assume that there is some way to format a floppy disk with the camera. Try to do that and then see if the floppy is recognized.

Kodak Easy Share P850 tried to turn on, then off, then on, etc. wouldn't stop! I solved the problem after reading this site. I cleaned the on/off switch with alcohol, rolled it back and forth which loosen it, then wiped contacts inside the battery area with alcohol, also wiped the contacts on the battery with alcohol. Solved the problem - thanks to someone's post. 8-))
