Yes It Is Possible.
1. Cable options you can use S-video or RCA.
2. VHS payer that has a recording option. Make sure that it supports the Sony Handycam 8mm.
3. The procedure on how to transfer the 8mm to VHS is the same as how you view your video on the TV.
4. S-video or RCA should be connected on the Handycam and the other end is on the TV.

5. You can follow the instruction on page 27 (Sony Handycam CCD-TRV37)
6. You can also follow page 52 (Sony Handycam CCD-TRV37 )

I have recorded the videos in my Hi 8 Cassettes sony handy cam CCD-TRV418E. I want to copy the files to my PC and burn the CD's. My cam recorded doesn't have USB port. Please help me how to go about...

You will reqquire an A/D (analogue to digital) Converter to go between the camera and PC.
Connect the camera to the Converter with analogue cables and the Converter to the PC with a firewire cable.

Can i use a vhs-c tape in my handycam

No you cannot. A Digital-8 camcorder can read 8mm video and Hi-8 video, as well as the Digital8 format, but it cannot read or play VHS or VHS-C tapes.

Sony has a recall on some of these ccd imager problems. Contact Sony to see if your model applies, but it sounds like an imager problem on your pal format camcorder. Larry

How to transfer video from my sony handy cam CCD-TRV418E to Comp

You can use a card reader to transfer your file from your handycam to your computer. Remove the memory card in your camera and insert it to the card reader and insert it to your computer to transfer your recorded video.

Six years ago, I purchased my Sony Handycam CCD_TRV308 Hi-8. Now I want to download some old videos. Will this cam corder allow me to transfer videos to my computer?

You likely need a video capture card that will accept analog video (several makers like Pinnacle--not a recommend);
...alternatively, if you have a digital video camera, better ones have an analog video input jack by which you can use the digital camcorder as an interface (with analog to digital conversion), and thence to the computer via the firewire cable.
...This technique can also be used to transfer VHS from your old VHS player from its analog output, via the digital camcorder to the PC.
..This way you can transfer into a NLE (non-linear editor) like Adobe Premier, Final Cut, Sony Vegas, AVID, etc ; and edit your video now that it has been digitized. And the Hi8 as you know will have much better resolution potential than the VHS.

Sony HC-video 8

Do you have edit tools? If you do, first you need to find a way to convert analog video to digital video. A computer edit system can only understand video that has been converted to a digital file.

Your best solution might be to find a business locally that can convert Video 8 to DVD. Then you will be able to view your video.
