Timer is not working, or thermocouple is defective.
unit must cycle forward-reverse to remove ice, thisis how it works, by melting the ice that forms.

Dehumidifer will not turn on. An E2 code comes up on the panel. Has been working fine for 4 day.

Since it has been working well for 4 days, it may be a case that the unit needs to reset itself. To accomplish this, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 12 - 15 minutes. Then plug the unit back into the wall outlet and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, that timeout allowed the unit to reset itself. Also, check to make sure that the water collection bucket is installed properly and is making good contact with the safety switch.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

MODEL DM 162EBS. Why is it when I switch my dehumidfier on 10 minutes later it goes to defrost. [ WHY?]

Let's think thru the dehumidification process--

A dehumidifer needs to create a COLD surface, on which to condense the moisture in the room.
If your room is quite cool, it is esily possible that the COLD surface can go below freezing-- Now the water is trapped in the ice-- So-- it has to defrost, to melt off the ice, and start all over again!

Can you move the Dehumidifier to a warmer spot-- maybe near a radiator, or a heat register? -- You will remove much more moisture in that way, too..

Just a question: Most homes are WAY TO DRY during the winter months-- are you sure you need to dehumidify your living area? (Maybe you are drying the basement?-- or a wet area?)

Just seeing if I can help

The dehumidifer doesn't

sounds like your evaporator coil is dirty its the coil where the air goes in

Check the coils for icing. You may need to remove a cover to see them. IF the temp is much below 65-70 degrees, there is a good chance of icing. Take it upstairs or where it is warm and try running it to see if it removes moisture. If it does, it is probably icing. Raise it off the floor as the temp is higher towards the ceiling. Hope this helps

Delonghi dehumidifer

Hi,

Might it be that the unit simply needs a full thorough cleaning including the tiny spaces between fins? Dust can gather and block air passage on many of the components of a dehumidifier not only on the filter. in some extreme cases, the unit could be undercharged (insufficient) coolant. A service shop engaged in the business of cleaning and repairing air conditioners should also be able to work on your unit.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Unit Runs (fan and condenser) but no water?

By condenser I assume you mean the compressor is running. Is there ice forming on the front coil?

Dehumidifier

if it does not get cold anymore, then a freon charge is necessary, provided the compressor was not damaged from "left it on for a long time once and found that ice had developed on it. I know that being left on could cause a problem"
