Icemaker makes ice, then partially melts, constantly jamming disp

Matag side-by-side refrigerator's icemaker makes ice, partially melts it, then creates large pieces melted together that jam up the whole works. I've cleaned it out repeatedly, adjusted the temp --- still does this --- occasionally works OK! Help...

Thank you JackFrost. Haven't had time to try your suggestion yet, but I should add that this is a Maytag Performa PSD2450GRW and I found that it had a recall on it for overheating. So I called for service and I am hoping that maybe this had somethihg to do with it...If notk, I will try your advice. Thanks.

Good day.
Tough one if it works from time to time. Shut the water to the machine completely off and clean out the ice maker well.
Pour water into the well until near full. Wait 3 hours to see if it harvests normally. If it's a normal harvest, repeat the test 2 to 3 more times. If it acts normally on harvest, replace the water valve on the bottom back of he machine.
If it acts abnormally, then you will need to replace the ice maker, and the water valve should be replaced at the same time.

Note: The freezer temperature must be normal for this testing to work properly, and the water supply from the house must be strong. Extremely weak water to the machine from the house will unbalance the fill cycle because it is a straight time fill. 7 seconds, unlike a washing machine that fills to a specific level.

I should add, that the water used to fill the ice maker by hand should be warm water. This will prevent the ice maker from cycling too soon. As well, if it's performing a dry harvest, let it finish before adding the water.

Replaced water filter on my Frigedaire refrigerator and it is leaking where the filter is it is making ice when the bar is raised for no more ice it does not lead but when the bar is down to make ice is...

Hello,

The problem there is going to be one of 2 related causes.

The tube in the back of the icemaker where the water enters it is partially frozen and when the water comes into the icemaker some of it is spraying into the bin instead of filling into the icemaker.Remove the icemaker and check and thaw that tube.

That tube is out of place so once again instead of water filling into icemaker correctly some of it is running into ice bucket instead of icemaker.

Icemaker is making ice but it will not drop into container

Ice maker has built in heater to thraw ice alittle so the finger scooper lifts up ice and out. Be sure the ice cubes are not stuck in between fingers cause that will jam it. if you dont see any jam then replace ice maker

Kenmore icemaker

It sounds like the icemaker is making hollow cubes , and the unfrozen water in the cubes , after dumping , freezes and causes the ice shells to stick togather . This is a sign of " not enough water going into the icemaker " . Replace the water inlet valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to , on the refrig .

Kenmore side by side Mod#10657567790. No water to Icemaker. I am getting water to water disp. but none to icemaker. Changed out solenoid still no water to ice.

Hello. It sounds like the icemaker is bad. It is not the solenoid but the fact that the icemaker head is not requesting the water.

GE Refrigerator Stoped making ice

the small pipe in side the freezer the one that supplies water to it, it builds ice in side, you can melt the ice by getting some hot water and a towel and wet the pipe with it intel ice melts , or you can unplug the frige with the door open over night.first solution is better.

Oviously you need water first. You'll have to check that the fill valve is opening and that the water is making it to the icemaker. Make sure the fill tube that feeds the water from the back of the frige to the icemaker is not frozen. Be aware, just because you get water at the dispenser doesn't mean the valve to the icemaker is ok. If you are getting water, you need to check that the icemaker is not jammed, sometimes ice can fall back into the icemaker, or get caught in the ejector. You may need to remove the icemaker and run the mold under hot water to melt the ice. If it was jammed, you'll need to check that the fill level is correct to prevent it from happening again, both too much water and too little water can cause problems. There is a heater that helps loosen the ice from the mold, because of that there is a thermal fuse to prevent it from over heating. It will be molded into the wiring harness supplying power to the icemaker. If you have continuity through the fuse it's ok. If you don't the heater shorted and you will need both a new icemaker and that wiring harness.
