Installing Windows XP on a Emonster 600 is the same process as installing Windows XP on any Windows-compatible personal computer. The process is not difficult, and can be completed quickly.
#1 Insert the Windows disc and restart your computer. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press a key. Windows will begin the set-up process. #2 When a list of hard drive partitions appears, delete each of them by pressing "D" to delete and "L" to confirm deletion. When finished, you should only have one choice: "unpartitioned space." #3 Press "Enter", then format using the NTFS file system. Do nothing while Windows begins to install. #4 Wait for Windows to restart. When the process continues, enter the product key, the time and time zone, and your name when prompted to do so. Allow the installation to continue; it may take some time. #5 when Windows restarts again, continue the process using the on-screen instructions. The process will vary depending on your hardware configuration. #6 Connect to the Internet and activate Windows once you reach your desktop. If you can't, you can also activate Windows over the phone. Installation is complete.
You can install up to a max 2 GB RAM and can add a 2nd hard disk

The BIOS determine the maximum size hard drive that can be installed in the laptop. Put a smaller hard drive in the laptop say 120Gb hard drive, you will lose approx 10% in the formatting process.
Use the 180GB in another laptop or put it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as a portable external hard drive.
hi, did you run the upgrade adviser, before running xp set up? this will tell you any upgrades or possible problems you may have. it is probably a hardware compatibility, as the aging p3 systems would have. if you can, go back with the older operating system, then run upgrade adviser, you may be able to correct he issue, i still have a pentium 2 450,that i put xp on years ago-it runs great for a p2-so it is not impossible to do.also did you do a quick or full format in the fat or ntfs, do full, and try the fat format for that p3. hope this helps you, good luck! need more help post again.
since you are using an obsolete model and computer specs, i don't think this can actually support windows XP in optimal settings.. You might want to install windows 98 on this machine to be able to use it properly.
note: you may think that this machine is working really slow because you tend to compare it on the newer machines that you are using. If that's the case, then you are definitely right that it's slower. This is because the machine is really old. KUDOS to you though for having a working machine that is this old. I used to have one about 4 years ago and it was one of the best during its time. :)
THE SE440BX2 MOTHER BOARD CAN SUPPORT P3,P2 PROCESSORS(P3 850 MHZ)....,BUT NOT P4 AND HIGHER VERSIONS...THIS MOTHER BOARD SUPPORTS UPTO 768 MB OF RAM,NOT MORE THAN THIS...
Right well XP Pro really MUST be formatted with NTFS only...
I suggest you get a third party partitioning program like Partition magic and completely remove the partition & redo it all again & this time Format NTFS.
Or if ya have a WIN98 boot disk, and ya can use FDISK, Delete ALL partitions, and remake them again, using all the disk space, then format as NTFS, then proceed as below
Then using your windows XP PRO setup Disk, start the install ...then when asked about where you want the install located, select C & REFORMAT it AGAIN with the windows setup using again NTFS file system... this should finish & then the Install should "see" your entire hard drive and format it accordingly and then when finished you can proceede to install XP.
