You are probably seeing what looks like Jail Bars (Vertical Lines evenly spaced) on the screen. If so,then the DMD chip on the DMD board is bad and needs to be replaced

Where is "fan #2" in Samsung dlp hl-r5656w?

I don't know which is fan #2 but if you take the back off, you will see one fan right in front of you. The other is harder to get to. It's the black box inside the silver covering with the holes (in left lower part).

My TV was acting up by having only one color showing until I let it cool down then it would work fine. I cut a hole in the plastic back cover and mounted a bigger computer fan. Just spliced it in the wires of the little fan. Fixed the problem

Purple and blue screen on dlp tv

Sounds like a problem with the Vertical Video Card.

Have fun finding one. If your TV is still under warranty... send your TV off for repair.

I have a 2 inch wide dim (colorless) strip down the left side of my HL-R5656W. It happened after a move. Could I have jostled anything? How do I fix this?

yes you could have. Try 2 sources, cable, dvd, game system. If the issue is with any 2 then it is the tv and it will have to be adjusted by a repair center. If it's only one source then it could just be the actual source that the issue is with. You can also push the menu button and if the line is over the menu it's for sure the tv.

HL-R5656W Unit made loud pop and pic went black, ordered bulb but there is a loud crackling with some flashing going on when I re-inserted old bulb, is this the ballast that needs replaced?

Wait until you get the new bulb to determine that. The old bulb is probably arching as it tries to start.90% of the time the new bulb will do the trick.

Tv will not turn on

Check to see if there is a problem with the internal fuse. Your user manual should have a troubleshooting section that will address your particular symptoms.
You should also plug a different appliance into the outlet where your TV is plugged in to make sure there isn't anything wrong with the outlet.
Though this probably isn't the case, I have sometimes seen outlets that are controlled by a wall switch, and sometimes, the wall switch is accidentally turned off.
