M Audio Mobile Pre cutting out sporadically

I've been using my M Audio Mobile Pre on occassion for about a year. Tonight it started cutting out while recording or playing back. I was able to get the sound back briefly by unplugging the USB power source, or by rebooting the computer. Then, it would end up cutting out again. Very frustrating. Any ideas? I had both monitor speakers connected and headphones, and sound was not coming out of either.

SOURCE: No sound through M-Audio preamp and condenser mic

Hi micoach
The condenser mic you are using requires phantom power for it to operate. Pay to check that that is turned on m-audio. Just to be sure.you say you can get sound off the m-audio headphone socket. Just need to check that. You will need to check that you have selected the device for recording from the preferences--audio I/O options menu within audacity. Perhaps check these things and get back to me here if you still have problems.I can go into more detail with you.

robotek

SOURCE: cannot record

Im having the same probz, got a Hp Pavilion Vista using mobile pre amp usb when i record using a condenser mic XLR nothing is picked up from the channels in Cubase or Nuendo. Im trying to record vocals but the Mic is not picked up and i cannot hear myself in the headphones and it wont transfere to cubase.

It has worked before when i had a desktop, but this only worked with a separate m-audio sound card inside the desktop and i plug in the output jax leads from the desktop (soundcard) to the m-audio usb pre amp

Is this why it is not working for the laptop do i need a Jax connection and where is this audacity

Is It A Condenser Mic? If So You'll Need Phantom Power

SOURCE: Recording Spikes

Give yourself enough headroom before clipping by preadjusting the recording volume control. Try recording the loudest passage and making note of what your VU meter is indicating. Adjust your volume control accordingly. Try to maintain a uniform distance from the microphone and use a windscreen. There is a great site at www.dancetech.com with links to other sites with all the info you will probably need. Hope this helps.

Peachtree amp pre out has + ve & - ve sockets that can be used to connect a sub but my svs sub has one in put port only . is it safe to join + ve &- ve with a Y connector and feed the sub

I am not clear if you are saying that the amp has sockets for a pre-amp to be connected to it. Or if it is a pre-amp and that it has an out socket for connecting a power amp.
Either of them are not suitable for connecting a sub I think.

Speakers crackle, then sporadically stop

Sounds like an amplifer fault. Many of these Midi system use a large black IC attached to a metal heatsink. They control both the power amp and pre amp on both channels. When they go wrong they can cause all sorts of effects,
If you can repair things I would look at that. If not get ready for a large bill. If it's the IC some are expensive, it does most of the work!

they should be able to but it might void the warranty, if new just send it back or dont use headphone jack on unit use another device to plug in, or open it up and put the jack back
