You have a break in the cable. You don't say in what area it's in, so I will have to give you 3 ways of clearing the fault.
1: Break in, near or around the plug. The best solution is to cut off the plug making certain the break area goes with it. You can then fit a new 3.5mm plug. If you need advice on how to do this let me know.
2. Break halfway to 2-thirds along the cable. Again cut the cable to a point clear of the break, again fit a new plug. To extend it you can purchase an extension headphone cable from any hi-fi shop.
3. Break to close to headset. In which case you will need to replace the entire lead. To do this you need to open up the headphones. Access is obtained by removing the pad(s) and any foam. You might need to force the foam off. You can glue it back on afterwards. You should then see screws to open it.
Fitting new plugs or attaching the wire inside will require the use of a small soldering iron.

AVR590 sound cut out completely

try plugging in headphones and then unpluggin them. The headphone jacks on these units frequently go bad so the unit thinks that there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. This causes the speaker to be shut off. This might fix it temporarily, the complete fix would be to have the headphone jack replaced.

How to fix coby cv320 headphones

If you hear sounds from only one earphone then most likely there is a broken wire to the earphone that is not producing a sound.
It is difficult to determine exactly where the wire is broken and repair. I suggest you get a new earphone.

My HPM1000 is only playing in one ear how can I fix this

Jinglebell15,

This is the most common thing to go wrong with headphones. Before you do anything to them, check the warranty. If you are covered, send them off and get them fixed / replaced. Otherwise, carefully open up the casing around the bad speaker and look for a broken wire. Usually it will be around the area where the headphones move the most - the spots where you adjust the fit or swivel the speakers. Before you go doing this though, test them on a second device to make sure it truly is your headphones, and not the balance on your music device being thrown off, or a faulty headphone port.

My HD 205 headphones broke last weekend, ive had them for four monthes and when i was listening to music on my ipod touch the headphones sounded like they weren't plugged in properley, i moved the wire...

It sounds like the wires around the jack have become frayed on the inside. If you were to open up the rubber casing around the wires, it would look exactly like that. This is normally caused by improperly wrapping the wires and by not being gentle when plugging them in and removing them. It could be caused by other things, such as electrical damage, but that is much more rare. If you have soldering experience and feel comfortable opening up the rubber casing and working on them, it's not too difficult. You would need to remove the bad portion of the wire and replace it. However, it is just as easy and cost-efficient to have them fixed at an audio repair shop. It should cost no more than $20. Hope this helps!

How do i fix the sound the right headphone is not working only if i move the wire around

Unfortunately, you cannot fix these things, they have to be replaced. One thought is that if you buy them at a Best Buy, get the Black Tie coverage for them so when they die, you can get new ones for a fraction of the price. Skull Candy makes good sounding headphones but they break like this quite often.

Brookstone wireless headphones have static along w/ tv sound

Well I just plugged into the cable box and that worked. On my old tv as well as my newer one the only audio out was an optical I had bought an optical splitter (one input for my sound bar and the other one to the optical to Rca) and an optical to rca for the headphones. This allowed me to use the headphones on all things going through the tv. For some strange reason it no longer works that way (just got my new tv this week). I bought all pieces on Amazon for a nominal cost. I'm going to doublecheck all connections again tomorrow.

Microphone not working. I can hear people, but they can't hear me

Hi!

The plugs that they come with are substandard for regular removal.
(pluging in and out) the cable has no adequate strain relief causing the thin
cables inside to break. you will notice that it will crackle and temporarily come on
as you move the cable around near the plug end or where it joins the microphone.

Some times when people are engaged in conversation they play with the wire inadvertantly!!

i hope this has solved your problem.

take care.
