KV-40XBR800 wont turn on. The standby light flashes 7 times. salt56 posted a solution to replace 2 ic's. What are ic's and where are they located?

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2008

This problem is intermittent, as long as the TV is plugged and I attempt to turn it on it will not come on. If I unplug it for a period of time and plug it in before trying to turn it on, it will come on.

ICs or integrated circuits- a combination of many circuit components packaged into a single chip. These chips Salt is talking about are located on the "D" board in between the Flyback transformer and the 2 large capacitors of the board. Black in color with the part number: MCZ3001D printed on their tops.

Thank you Salt! I found another forum for Sony TV problems, at that forum member referred me to a service bulletin recommending these 2 ICs. Im going to install sockets and replace the ICs. I will let you know what happens.

I also have the same TV with the exact same problem. After reading the comments posted here last night, I unplugged my TV overnight. Just as expected the TV powered on fine the next day. Does replacing the two IC's with part number MCZ3001D really fix the problem? Thanks.

Sony kv-40xbr800 stand by light flashing no picture

How many times do this standby light flashes? These flashes are fault indication, called blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the number of flashes. If you wish to get more detail about these blinking codes to Sony TVs, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Wont turn on

The problem is with its main power regulator section itself. Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.
This is the fault, and check points. For more details about the blinking codes for Sony TVs, check this.

Sony kv-40xbr800 blinks two times

  1. Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

Tv sony stop after 20 min standby led flashes 3 times

HI,
By three blink it means the B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is because there is problem in the power supply circuit. Check for any dry soldering in the power supply side. If the tv is working properly for 20 minutes then its sure that there is some dry soldering joints in the power supply side. You have to resolder suspected soldering contacts using soldering ion and solder. The dry soldering joints will look like on in the picture.

I have a Sony kv-40xbr800. The standby light flashes 6-7 times and does not turn on. If left off for a couple of day, it may turn on. Is there an easy fix?

SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking selfdiagnosis
function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k
and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply
regulation and horizontal circuits.
