Are you playing it directly thru your FM antenna connection, or using the RCA jacks? You have to set the FM modulator level. It is also possible that you have a new FM radio with a type of ALC that will raise the lever regardless, but your regular car radio volume control should work. do not wire this directly to a power amp, as you won't have the control that you need. Good luck, let me know more.

Could be worn volume-control (potentiometer), dust/oxidizing on wiper-track of same control.
Buy contact-cleaner spray, such as Servisol, McKenic, Kontakt or similar.
If linear slider-type volume, attach tubular nozzle/guide thingy to spray head, squirt cleaner into slot while zooming back & forth (stereo OFF).
This scrubs the contacted surface while cleaning.
If rotary type, remove stereo, open cover, locate volume control, squirt into control while dialling up and down.
Allow a few minutes to evaporate (quick dry spray is best).

How aux works?

The Aux works when you have the RCA jacks from a DVD player or video game connected to the back of the stereo. When in that mode, the stereo will play the volume from that device.

The factory xm volume to low in 2006 corvette

Separate 'plug and play' XM radios, like the one pictured above, have a "MENU" setup, and you can adjust the "Audio Level" in that menu setting. See if you can access an XM menu. You can also ask your question over at XM411.com or XMfan.com; both are 'fan' websites.
Good luck - nice car too!

Car stereo receiver

Maybe the owners manual would help. It says you can adjust the sensitivity of the AUX input through a menu. It sounds like the AUX sensitivity is just set to max. Look for the 'to change other settings' chapter, instructions are in there.
If you don't have the manual, find it on the official website.

XM 2 GO Not Playing

I had the same problem. I had to reset (use a paper clip into the RESET hole under the battery cover ( or pull out the battery for a a couple of minutes). Then, after recording some songs, I switched over MYXM and then began rotating the channel selector dial. The volume indicator arrow moved off zero and began advancing up the volume scale. I kept doing it until it about half way and my sound was back.
