Monitor won't come on after unplugging for an electrical storm

Help! We had a storm last night and we shut down and unplugged the computers. Now the monitor won't come on. The green light comes on for awhile, but the screen is blank. Is there a reset button or something? This has happened before and my husband has messed around with it plugging and unplugging stuff until it comes on, but no luck today.

I have no idea what either of those things are. I have tried plugging it into another computer and still have the problem. The first time this happened, I took it to Best Buy and they plugged it in and had no problem. This happens every time we unplug it. Is there a reset button? a fuse?

Is it plugged into an integrated soundcard on the motherboard or is it plugged into a Graphics card either a PCI or AGP? If it is integrated, you may want to look into a different video card for both better video quality and system performance. Let me know if this doesn't work.

If your TV has a reset switch on the back, use it. If not, Unplug the TV, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, let it go and remain unplugged for another 5 minutes or so.
Plug it back in, and see what happens. Try changing the inputs/channels/etc to see what happens. If you're still having this issue, Take your TV in for repair.

- Sidenote, a $25 power bar with built in protection curcuits are the easiest way to protect your equipment from this kind of thing, and quite a bit cheaper than forking over $300 for a new TV everytime there's thinder and lighting.

Not sure how much this will help you now, but unplugging your device is the only way to really protect it during a storm. Even turned off, your equipment is still subject to receive any electrical spikes that come through the lines

Turn the monitor off.
Unplug it from the AC power.
Reconnect it, turn it on, and see if it returns to "normal".

Do you have house-insurance that covers electrical damage from lightning/thunder storms?

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Blank screen

Similar monitor, similar problem. I actually had to dismantle the thing and replace a transistor on the mainboard.

If you're not into soldering and such, good luck.
