Re: need picture tube replaced for rca television not
You have to get the exact type no. of the picture tube. Better buy a new TV. Picture tube will be expensive and no guarantee whether it will have sharp image l after replacement.

Now, just a guess: presuming you will find that CRT tube, maybe the job of buying and replacig the CRT tube of your TV might cost you more then a new flat panel TV? I don't know..
Yes, it is the picture tube. I'm sorry for the bad news, but you'll probably need to just replace the TV rather than get it fixed - as it costs several hundred dollars depending on the size.
I've checked the sources I have for RCA parts. First, the tube is no longer available. Second, that's good because it was nearly $1500. Don't worry about replacing the tube. Replace the set instead. A new 40-inch LCD set is under $500.
Picture tube replacement in these set can be high. and most of the time unless the set is under warrenty to costly to get fix. From my point of view( a technician) i repair these set alot. and the tube runs 250 and then labor is very extensive. i think we repair a tube for about 350
A CRT (picture tube) for an RCA projection TV will cost $300-400 If the TV is more than 4-5 years old, you'll likely have to replace all 3 CRTs to obtain a watchable picture. Its probably not a good idea to spend that kind of money on a "free" TV.
High voltage Trippler is bad or shorted tube or need to replace FET ,startup Kit it has 16pin ic/ 4capacitors /resistors /everything you need to repair that circuit. So your tv is 15yrs old cost of replacing tubes 300.00 per tube.plus labor 190.00 and up ?
Try removing the Green CRt PC voard that is on the bottom of the green Picture tube which is the center one. Then replace the fuse and see if your set powers up if it does you need a new gree tube. Just be sure the crt board doesnt touch anything while you try it. then let me know what happened, if you need a tube they arent available new any longer but I have a source for good used picture tubes,
replacement of a picture tube in a itc222 chasis is one of my least favorote things to do here at the shop. average cost for a tube is around 250... replaceing the tube takes some time and the set has to be completely disasmbled. then reassemble and adjusted. i believe union electronics offer these tubes. you have to get the tube type of the tube itself there are several tube +lens combinations that have to be considered. willie at fordtv.com
The most common cause for a bowed picture is the convergence power supply module. The module will fail and sometimes blow the fuse.
Average cost of repair would be around $100, if you brought it to a tv shop, more for in home service.
