You should check for voltage at the compressor, if there is power than the compressor is siezed or it has bad starting components. You could hit it with a rubber mallet and try to free it. If there is no power at the compressor the thermostat could be stuck from sitting for so long, you could even give that whack or two and see if the comressor kicks on but if it was stuck it should be replaced, but sometimes they will continue to work. if your sure the refigerant (freon) leaked out you shouldn't try to start it because it wont work and you'll destroy the compressor you should weigh your options on getting it repared, some repair guys are rediculous,

Air conditioner doesn't work, blows hot air

The first thing to do is check to see if the compressor under the hood comes on. With the hood open start the engine and turn on the air conditioner. Listen for a click under the hood or have someone watch for the compressor to kick on. If it does not then the problem is either a fuse or low freon. If it does then you need to see if the blend door on the inside under the dash is moving from hot to cold when you change the dial for the temperature.

sorry it has a leak ,only way to fine it is to use the correct machine and vacumn it out ,then turn machine off and listen for a sucking sound ,most likely cause is the flexible hoses/compression fittings or the seal on the front of the AC compressor ,if you still cannot find the leak then fill AC with a special dye and use a ultra violet light and yellow glasses to find the leak .

Commpressor not kicking on

Assuming it has a full charge of refridgerant, you would have to verify the control head is sending power to the ac compressor. Usually the reason they dont come on is simply because the amount of charge is too low because of a leak.

Just replaced the air conditioner compressor last fall worked great for a couple months before winter came. not i need to use it again, the blower works but the compressor doesn't kick in

must check the ac relay and fuses before jumping to the climate control, due to lack of information don't just take it to any body, recommend specialist on AC only

the a/c system needs a minimum pressure before the system will run. the system must have a leak so just buying freon may last a day or a few months depending on the size of the leak. also leaking freon into the air is ozone depleating, it should be recovered properly.

the system needs to be recoved of all freon. vacuum to -30psi held checked for leaks. (uv dye or nitrogen and soapy water). leaks fixed. vacuum to evacuate moisture and air. refilled with proper amount of freon (too much or too little make the air not as cold).

Fridge isn't cold

Hi,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

Freezer is not freezing and refridgerator is not cold enough

have the freon checked for leaks, also check to make sure the compressor is coming on. If it comes on and is warm, boost freon. If the unit is not coming on properly, check the capasitors and compressor
