I don't know the password to unlock my ipod nano's screenlock

If you can’t remember the current combination, the only way to clear it and enter a new one is to restore the iPod nano software.
You can use iTunes to update or restore iPod software.
If you choose to restore, all data is erased from iPod nano, including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod nano settings are restored to their original state.

To reset iPod nano password, you'll have to restore your iPod to factory defaults. Resetting instructions can be found on Apple's website:

Unlock Screen Lock and Volume Lock for Windows Vista

First you need to click on My Computer with your iPod connected.
The click on the iPod, click organized, select folder and search options, now click View the click to show hidden files and folders then click apply.

You should now see a folder named iPod_Control, click into this, then click device, now delete the file named: _locked to reset the screen lock and delete _volumelocked

2. Open iTunes and sync the iPod as normal.
3. Remove the iPod, following the normal removal procedure. The iPod unlocks automatically as you remove it.

Basically you cant unlock the voulume if you dont know the password. You would probably have to reset your iPod in order to adjust your volume and when you put a new password in be sure to remember it.

plug it in the computer and run itunes. then go to restore and reset the iphone that way

After completing the following, your iPod will become a password recovery disk, which will allow recovering your system password in case you get locked out. Note: This tutorial is only works for WinXP. Required Items:

• Windows XP Home/Pro
• iPod Nano or iPod Video
• USB-iPod Connection Cable

Set Up Procedure:
1) Connect your iPod to your machine and verify that it appears as a standard drive in "My Computer". (ex: "Joe's iPod (G:)")
Note: If it doesn't appear and you have iTunes Installed, make sure "disk use" is enabled.
2) Go To Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Select Your Account -> Related Tasks - > "Prevent a forgotten password". A Wizard should appear.
3) Select Your iPod's Drive Name -> Enter Current Password -> Finish Once complete your iPod should be setup as a password recovery disk. Do not delete the "userkey" file, which you may see when browsing your iPod's contents. To test your recovery disk do a quick Log Off and try logging in with an incorrect password. Select "use password reset disk". Then proceed and select your iPod's drive name. If all goes well it should you will be allowed to create a new password
