Question about Computers & Internet
I have an HP TouchSmart all in one desktop and it won't boot up. I get an error that says ''reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key''.
This error is informing you that you don't have to proper booting device selected in the bios ( basic input/output system).
It is either pointed to a CD or DVD drive and not the hard drive if installed.
You may have lost the hard drive boot sector.
Usually at start up the screen will give the choice what boot device you want to start your operating system with that is the hard drive or the CD or DVD.

Its basically telling you that your master hard drive with O/S installation cannot be found in the booting system...Check if your master HD is not corrupted and see if your O/S still exist or maybe wiped out..

I have installed a new monitor on my desktop (windows xp) but the message appears 'Reboot and select proper boot device, or insert Boot Media' ..
I have tried out the new moitor on my laptop and is working fine. How can i rectify this on my desktop? Is there anything i need to change in the bios screen?
Thanks
Alison
