Hope you got it working already. If not, unplug the power supply (the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached) with the power cord still attached to it and the other end still plugged in to the power outlet. Hold down Start and Cancel buttons at the same time. While holding down the buttons, plug the power supply back in the printer. Continue holding down firmly the two buttons until English language selection appears on the screen. Then, let go of the two buttons and set your printer like your setting it up for the first time - choose language, set the time and date. By the way, this doesn't change network settings in the printer.

To access the Setup menu, press the top left button on the control panel (symbol of a wrench or spanner). Now use the < or > buttons to scroll through options until you find Device Setup and press OK. Scroll to Language and press OK. Scroll for your chosen language and press OK.
Done.
Testimonial: "Many thanks, the only difficulty I have is that I cannot translate the language that is currently on my printer"
Do you know what language is currently displayed? If so you could try an online translator, such as babelfish (google 'babelfish')
Another thought - when you press the top left button the first option diplayed is probably Set Up, and when you select that the first option then displayed is probably Language. Try that.
