Hp psc 2110 printer will print but will not scan. It displays that I need to install software that it does not have that option. I don't have the cd.

it is posible that you might have just installed the print drivers only. are you installing from the original cd or did you download drivers?

Yes, just like it says, you need a scanning software running on your computer, there are no options until you have the scanning software running and it knows where to send the image and how to save it.

Dose it work?

My hp 750 dose this and even talks when not working.

You can get HP Print Diagnostic Utility software which will fix most hp printers issues.

Vista has the drivers for the HP psc 2110 embedded in the OS.

So, you should be able to print, with the default drivers. But, you will not be able to scan as of right now, unless someone releases an update for the HP PSC scanning software. I doubt that will happen, as these all in one's are so old.

Such a good little printer/ scanner/ copier too.. kind of sad to think its that obsolete that its not compatible for scanning.

Power the unit down for an hour or so. If still a problem

Uninstall the software and then reinstall software from the CD.

I'm assuming you went to the HP site and downloaded the Vista drivers??? Other than that try this:

1. From Control Panel > printers... uninstall all printers.
2. Unplug USB cable to printer and re-boot.
3. Install Software.
4. Plug USB cable back in.

what happens whenever you are trying to scan.... any error message or any error number?

try scanning from the printer to the computer using the scan to option on the front panel of the printer.

try scanning from hp solution center installed in your computer.

try scanning from mspaint. to do so, open paint and click on "file-->from scanners and camera".

how did you installed the driver. have you got the correct cd to install the printer in windows vista???

if not that may be the problem. the printer can print and copy well as you are having the drivers which will work in win vista. but for the scanning functionality you need to get the cd to install the printer in windows vista. you can download it online.

Cycle printer power (off for about half hour).

If still nogo rry uninstalling the S/W then re-installing S/W from CD ROM.

Search HP website for Driver upgrade.
