Hi there,

I had the exact same problem with both of my LG Recordable DVD players - seems to be some sort of a flaw in their software or hardware.

With my DVD players, i replaced the Hard Disk Drive and it worked for about another 8 months and then the same problem occurred.

You will need to take the DVD player to a qualified LG repairman or back to the place where you bought it if it is still under warranty and they will replace the drive for you.

You cannot do it yourself as it requires special software on the drive and the drive must also be formatted correctly (FAT32 if I remember correctly).

The manual does not specify the usb size max.
I would expect not more than 8 GB to 32 GB max
Also remember fat 32 cannot support large file sizes more than 8gb

I recorded video from my Sony Handycam to the RH387H HDD and then wrote the video onto a DVD-R disc using the XP setting (instead of SP, LP.....). The disc can only playback now on the LG387H, but cannot...

make sure the disk is finalised after recording, if this does not help then the bit-rate it uses for xp may not be compatable with other dvd players, in which case stick to sp,lp or dual-layer sp is best if ou can.

On my LG RH387H dvd hard drive the dvd tray won't open fully and now it has started to open on power up and when i try to close it it keeps opening even though there is no dvd inside

mechanical timing and allignment is the prtoblem of your dvd player...you need to open the cover of the dvd player..take out the dvd mechanical loading system try to eject it manually by turning the gear with your hand..make sure that the cd loader reaches the limit switch before it closes..

i had the same trouble with my LG blu ray . you need to upgrade your software on your blu ray. if u email Phillips customer service and ask for the link to upgrade ( which is called firmware ) the u can download it and put it on a disc . once you put the disc in the player it will update for you, see how u go

2. scroll to setup options
3. scroll to lock (DO NOT SCROLL SIDEWAYS)
4. press zero seven times (message appears)
5. press enter

dvd player now region free

Need to play region 1 DVD in region 2

I just got a RH387H in Hong Kong, region 3, but the above method doesn't work, this model has slightly different icon, no "lock" icon, I tried in other similar location but no effect, hopefully someone will provide a method.

Mr ilo dvd R04 recorder is locked at the hello screen!!!!

The unit is not finishing the start up diagnostic. This could be forseveral reasons. The most common problem with the Ilo04 is power supply. On the power supply board check the two big capacitors to see if they are swollen or leaking. If so then change them and try that.

The problem lies in a defective electrolytic capacitor in the Power Supply Board. Its the 1000 mf 25 volt. If you look carfully you will see its bulge. just repalce it and problem solve.

Many thanks, this worked for me. C123 was bulged. Replaced it with a 820 uF 24V Capacitor and it worked fine. This is my second device that I fixed by replacing a badcap. How many millions of devices will have been thrown in the trash because if this industry known badcap problem?
