Missing Photos Canon Rebel XTi

I went through the usual steps to load my photos into my computer using Picasa2 software. I made the fatal error of instructing the program to clear the images from my camera when done.... however, the photos seem to be missing from my computer. If I do not take any new photos with my Canon Rebel XTi camera, is there a way to retrieve my lost images? I have already exhausted all attempts to find the photos in the software/computer.

You can actually still keep taking photos with your camera without loosing the images. The XTi will never delete the images off a card unless you press the trashcan key and tell it to "delete all".

It's always good practice in these situations to have a memory card reader handy. You can pick up a compact flash reader for your XTi for about $14 at BestBuy or many other retaillers.

But to answer your question: Use the ZoomBrowser EX software that came with the camera. If your Picasa is set to automatically connect and download every time the camera is connected - temporarily disable it. That way it wont inturrupt Canon's software (which I prefer).

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

Computer does not recognize my canon eos rebel xti 400D

You can download the driver aand reinstall it from this link: http://www.nodevice.com/driver/EOS_400D/get37008.html Make sure your existing Canon software, if any, is removed before installing the new driver. If this doesn't work you can always purchase a card reader and extract your photos directly from the memory card.

Canon Rebel XTi not recognized when plugged into usb

Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.

Recording images takes a very long time after turning camera on

Are you using a typeII Cf card. You might try reformatting the card. Or go pick up a type II or III card, the type IV's seem to not do as good in the Canon..

Missing photos

The camera has no internal memory.

If you hit the format button, you will lose images without warning. I am not sure if this is what you did, but if you really need the images, stop using the card for the moment and try some data recovery software:

www.z-a-recovery.com it's free and effective.

Hope this helps!

New Canon Rebel xti photos won't print on my Epson Photo R320

Re-install the printer after downloading the latest driver from Epson. It is quite likely that the Canon software has over written the colour profile for the Epson.
