Hello :

It could be bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly .

WARNING : A microwave oven is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock, even when it is unplugged. I strongly recommend you seek the assistance of an appliance repair technician when conducting any microwave oven repair .

good luck .

Hotpoint rvm1435 microwave: seemingly no power (no lights work, no buttons work, etc); however a voltage tester shows electricity inside the unit. I tried replacing the fuse, but that was not it...any...

In addition to the fuse, the safety devices which will render the oven dead during a fault condition are the bottom TCO and the cavity TCO.

The TCOs (thermal cutouts) have thick black wires connected to them, and they should both read "closed" or zero ohms when you do a continuity check on them.

Do not confuse the hood TCO, which has thinner red and blue wires connected to it and which are supposed to normally read "open" or infinity. If the hood TCO were bad, the hood vent exhaust fan would run all the time.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Microwave not heating, but does count down minutes.

Press clear/reset button and hold 5 seconds. If this doesn't work unplug unit or shut off breaker for 10 seconds.

Need to plastic coupler that holds turn table in place

If you need a replacement turntable coupler, you can find this part listed as item number 942560 at repairclinic.com. Just type in your model number.

To replace, all you need to do is carefully slide something under the existing coupler (if you can) and pry up. The coupler will pull off the motor shaft.

If you cannot access the coupler due to the way it was broken, simply remove the bottom panel UNDER the oven. With the panel removed, locate the small turntable motor and loosen the mounting screws to remove. The coupler should be easily accessible with the motor out of the unit. Make sure you reinstall the turntable motor and bottom panel BEFORE you try to install the new coupler. The coupler needs to be installed from inside the oven cavity by placing it in the opening in the oven floor and pushing straight down onto the motor shaft.

If you have questions, or require additional assistanc, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
