Date & Time Problem

Every time I turn on my computer it automatically comes up with the date 16/4/2016 and time 9.30am, not the current date and time. I have to change this every time I want to access the internet etc. How can I fix this problem. I am using Windows XP, and I am getting sick of having to do this every day.

Your cmos battery may be going bad. If you pull the side cover off of the desktop it should look like a big watch battery. Usually when the battery starts to go dead the pc clock is the first thing to go.

How to verify that the CMOS battery needs to replace

The CMOS battery is named after the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor power. The CMOS has the current date and time functions for desktop and laptop computers. It allows the computer to automatically adjust the time, even on computers that are disconnected for long time. When a computer no longer has the date and time and forget it on every boot, the CMOS battery probably needs replacing. Some computers have messages when the battery is weak, while others just lose the current date and time after each shutdown.

Time & Date Errors

1. Date & Time Problem

First, you need to have administrative rights to change date and time.
Check whether you are part of admin group or not. To check click on start and click on run, type "control userpasswords2" and hit enter. It will display user information, make sure you are part of administrators group. If not, try logging from administrator and run the same command
"control userpasswords2" and click on your user name and click on properties, go to to group membership tab and select others and then select administrators. This will make you part of administrators group. If this doesnt solves you problem try the CMOS Settings.

Try changing the date & time from CMOS settings. To go to CMOS Setup, restart the system and there will be options highlited to go to setup.. ( eg press F10 Steup ) and play around only date and time setup. Rest if not known to you, do not change anything.
