Put the machine into the spin cycle and start as normal. Then with the lid open take a item like a pencil and depress into the lid switch where the lid pushes down on a switch. If machine starts spinning remove and replace lid switch. Let me know.
check outlet with something that does work, check connections where wires go to washer.Make sure switch under lid is workin,i had a cover get caught up in that lid switch and wouldnt run,it had bent switch.and check breaker for sure.Dont think their are any fuses on washers.Might be shot if you are gettin power to unit.
This is usually the lid switch. Check for continuity, you should have continuity when lid is closed none when lid is opened. Use a screwdriver or similar to trip the switch. For a video on replacing a similar style go to www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html
iI have a kenmore 60 series washer model 110.81664110. It will not spin. After taking the bottom panel off I noticed what looks to be a small belt. The washer looks to be direct drive, the coupling is not broken. Can you please tell me what this "belt" is and how to change it? And could this be the problem causing it not to spin?
Thanks very much for any help I can get.
No power
Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?
Lid switch
If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
bad start switch, sometimes the contacts in the start switch will arc and burn causing starting up problems.
check the outlet to make sure that power is getting to the unit. This can easily be done by plugging in a lamp or some small appliance. If you have power at the outlet, it is most likely the lid switch. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. Unless you are familiar with working inside the housing I would call a technician.
The problem is definitely in the lid switch. Your machine has a reed switch which is located under the hob on the right side of the tub. There is a magnet built into the lid which activates the reed switch when the lid is closed. You will need to replace the reed switch and harness.
