If you're using the RCA cables, how is the switch set on the TT?

From the manual....

2. RCA Audio Output Cables: These cables should be plugged into a CD or Auxiliary input on your computer. IMPORTANT:
There is a switch on the bottom panel, next to the RCA cables that selects between PHONO/LINE. Use PHONO level for
plugging into a turntable input on a home stereo. Use the LINE level for plugging into CD/AUX/TAPE inputs. WARNING: You
may damage your receiver if you plug in a LINE level into a PHONO input.

though it's still the same cable.... I have a phono input on my usb card, which you don't see often and it works perfect, but if you're gonna digitize to a better format then mp3, which is everything and use audicity, use as Few options as possible, remove some groundnoise is often enough or you have a bad needle, then will it never be good.

Distorted crackling Sound Recording

Hi this is a fault alot of people have it usually starts to happen when you have been recording and then a loud noise has happened this then damages the mic on the camcorders.
The problem you might have is going to be getting a new mic fitted as alot of the newer camcorders they dont sell replacement parts unless its a top of the range one but if the parts are not available then their is no way of repairng it the bets thing to try is look in the phone book or online for a camera repair shop or even ring a camera shop up and ask them if their are parts available for your camcorder let me know if you need further assistance

Distorted recording of Record Albums

Are you talking about trying to transfer them to computer?
If you are what might be happening is that the signal from the deck to the computer is too strong. The way to cure this is by reducing the signal on the control panel of your computer. For instance I use SoundMAX and it as record input slider, which can be reduced to cut the signal from outside audio sources. I also switch off the graphic as adding bass etc to a recording can cause problems.

Marching band and live band concerts come out distorted

I'm sorry to say that there isn't a way to make bad audio good. You can sometimes make it a little better but it sounds like yours is distorted beyond help.

Your built-in microphone automatically senses how hard to "listen". Generally, being closer is better but in your case the signal was so loud that your audio sensors "clipped" the sound to protect your circuits. That means there is no signal in those gaps that could even be corrected.

The best you can do is see if someone else had a successful recording.

Zoom H4: 1. the USB connection no longer works; computer does not detect the recorder. 2. the 1st input is too loud and distorted, so I cannot record through both simultaneously, as input one...

If you are using a Mac and have Leopard (sys 10.5) You need to upgrade firmware on the H4 from Zoom website
http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/download/software/h4.php

You will need an external SD card reader.
