This solved my problem completely. I spotted the PCI Device with a yellow blip next to it, removed it, scanned, it was recognized and the drivers were installed easily. Thanks!

You can download the motherboarddevice drivers from Intel WEB site. Select your model motherboard/device, andmake sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that
matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link andselect your model motherboard : - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?iid=gg_support-au+home_downloadctrYou should install XP SP3 this is the latest service pack which contains security fixes.

I have installed windows XP pro sp3. My processor is Intel Celeron 430 1.8GHz. Sound Driver is not working.

After installing Windows XP and SP3 the audio driver needs to be installed.
If the audio card is built-in on the motherboard, then you can download the audio driver from the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site.
If the audio card is installed in an expansion slot, the the audio driver can be downloaded fron the sound card manufacturer's WEB site.
