Are you sure that it is a dvd writer >??? and not a cd writer ..dvd combo?? in this case you can not burn but a cd..and play the dvd ...Im saying this cause most of them are equipped like that it plays dvd-es but burn only cd-es..another thing try to install a bunner like nero ..or iso hunt ...if it doesnt want to ..maybe is all in right with the os...in both cases try to burn an image on the hdd ...like in a game that came iso...just choose burn image ..or change the device into the image burner ...and will burn a image with the recovery dvd you want to ...this one export it to another computer on a memory stick ..and burn it to a disk..

Why are you trying to burn back up discs (To burn a copy of the restoration image takes 10 CD's, 2 DVD's or a single dual-layer DVD), when the necessary recovery files are stored on a separate partition on the hard drive?

How to recovery a hp envy dv7

It depends on which operating system you are using. Here are instructions for Windows 7:
  1. Click on Start -> All Programs -> Maintenance.

Tip: An alternative is to execute from the Run box or a Command Prompt window. If you do that, you can skip to Step 3 below.
  2. Click on the Create a System Repair Disk shortcut.
  3. Choose your optical disk drive from the Drive: drop-down box.
  4. Insert a blank disk in your optical drive.

Note: An empty CD should be large enough for a System Repair Disk. I created a Windows 7 System Repair Disk on a new Windows 7 32-bit installation and it was only 145MB. If you only have a blank DVD or BD available, that's okay too of course.
  5. Click the Create disk button.

Windows 7 will now create the System Repair Disk on the blank disk you inserted in the previous step. No special disk burning software is required.
  6. After the System Repair Disk creation is complete, Windows 7 displays a dialog box that you can close by clicking the Close button.
  7. Click the OK button back on the original Create a system repair disk window that's now showing up on your screen.
  8. Label the disk as "Windows 7 System Repair Disk" and keep it someplace safe.

You can now from this disk to access System Recovery Options, the set of system recovery tools available for the Windows 7.

Tip: As with a Windows 7 installation disk, you'll need to watch for a for a Press any key to boot from CD or DVD... message on screen, right after your computer turns on or restarts with the System Repair Disk inserted.

WANT TO BURN A DATA-CD OR A DATA DVD ON WINDOWS 7 USING WINDOWS MEDIA ...

Burning a Data cd on dvd on windows 7 is very easy and simple using Windows media player....

just follow the steps given below:

1) Click on the Start button

2) Click on All programs

3) Go to Windows Media player

4) Once the player is open look for the Player library and click on the Burn Tab There.

5) Once the Burn options are opened click on Data DVD or CD

6) Insert a blank cd into your cd-rom.....make sure the type of cd you are inserting is same as the
option you select for burning.

7) if in case auto play box opens then close it

8) In order to make it easier, prior to starting the procedure of burning a dvd or a cd make a folder on
the desktop which includes the data or the songs that you want to burn in......it makes it easier to locate a single
folder rather than to search individually for an item.

9) Drag the songs you want to burn right into the middle of the player library's list pane which lies on its right side

10) for removing a certain song, right click and select remove from list

11) after your'e done with the selection, just click on the START BURN button

12)It takes a little time to burn a data disc. Make a note that data DVD is not as same as DVD video disc.

That's it and you get a whole set of songs into your cd just within a few minutes.........so get goin.!!!

Good Luck!!!!!

I bought a new laptop from Dell. My old on is a desktop from Dell. I have a Belkin transfer cable. It is asking for a transfer key number. what is that????????

Please note that your cable will support below givne O/S check at your end.

One destination PC running Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) and available USB port

One source PC running Windows® XP (32- or 64-bit) or Windows Vista® (32- or 64-bit) and available USB port

For Example two Pcs 1 is Xp and other pcs is Windows 7, then try to connect between both .

Another one more option is there for transfering the data between two systems either laptop or Desktop by a cross cable (LAN CABLE), buy a cross cable from shop and insert into RJ45 Socket (i.e lan socket) the try to transfer the datas.
