Just match the color of the male and female on each end. Plug the audio cable (mini stereo phone plugs) to the PC audio line out (green miniphone jack) to the Powered speaker mini stereo phone audio line input jack (green color jack). You will have to set the volume controls of the speaker control knob and at the PC on screen volume control panel.

Will Harman Kardon HK 206 speakers work with Windows 8

I just purchased a Dell XPS 8500 with Windows 8 and decided to keep using my old Harmon Kardon HK 206 speakers because I'm quite satisfied with these speakers. When I hooked them to my new PC, Windows 8 recognized them right away. The speakers work great on my new PC. Try going to the Control Panel and see if your speakers were recognized. (On my PC they're referred to as "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio). That's due to the default drivers in Windows 8. As long as you see speakers in the control panel, you should be OK. In that case you should check your connections. If you don't see speakers in the control panel, go back one screen and select add a device and let Windows 8 scan for any device that it hadn't recognized before.

Sound dead. no PC stated no OS stated, XP?

sound dead,
no OS stated, is this XP:?
no PC stated, just a screen monitor F1903 (old)
to have sound , there is no need for modems or the internet for sound. ever.
I guess this is a desk top PC, yes some use external monitors on laptops for good reasons, (its bigger)
so cant tell what you have there but guess some PC desktop
is it a HP desktop, ?

my guess With select models, one set of Harmon Kardon speakers with a DC cable and a DC power adapter.

if that is what is connected?, (is it?) then the DC pack is not plugged in, the DC pack power the speaker amp, in the speaker box where ever it resides. has
no power applied there will be , no sound if true.

ive no idea at all what you have there,
you need to say or show photos.?

or ask a geek to fix it. (one who hates chickens)

Windows update disconnected my Altec Lansing BX2 speakers sound. What should I do?

I had a similar problem with my Altec Lansing BX2 speakers. When bringing my HP PC out of "Sleep Mode" (Windows 7), I either had a blank screen with only a cursor or a desktop with no start menu, desktop icons or any means to operate the computer. After unplugging the speakers and hard booting the computer, the PC returned to normal operation. I'm looking for a solution myself.

How to connect speakers to the sub-woofer and my iMac.

i believe that plug is special because it feeds not only audio signal but also voltage to power the speakers. so unless u know that the speakers will get power from the plug, it will probably not work

Harmon Speaker distortion

Hi, I came across a similar problem with an old Altec and the the solution was to only replace the defective side. Actually, what was replaced was only the speaker itself inside the enclosure which was cheaper rather than replacing the entire assembly. An electronics technician (not necessarily a computer tech) can do the job since some soldering might be involved.
