Sounds like either a blown mainpower fuse or the thermal fuse for the power transformer. If the protect circuit was kicking in, the display would light up, but then turn off with a red blinking light. the green light with no display means the transformer is not getting power.
Quickest way to tell if the remotes buttons are (worn out) broken. If you have a digital camers or cell phone with a LCD display, put the remote in front of the camera and press the buttons. If the buttons are functional you will see the flashing red lights in the camera window. Hope this helps. If you need a new remote, check EBAY, there always there.
Assuming you mean a Denon AVR 587, 1. Turn the unit off. 2. Press and hold Speaker A and B buttons at the same time. 3. Still holding Speaker A and B buttons, press the Power button to turn the unit on. 4. The display should flash on and off at 1 second intervals. 5. Release the Speaker A and B buttons.
Make sure that the volume is not muted or too low on the TV...the TV volume output to your receiver will be performing the function of a pre-amp to your receiver. Then select the appropriate input on the receiver that you have the TV audio connected to.
You need to run an Analog (RCA) cable from your Cable Box, DSS, or FIOS to the Analog input of the receiver. It does not see digital signal input on secondary zones. Hope this helps
