We just opened our SPB-6 today, and my wife pureed a mixture of celentro and small pieces of ginger. Everything worked well for about 15 minutes and the machine stopped working. We still see the flashing red light indicating it is ready to perform but there is no response when pushing ON or PULSE. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! i don't believe the previous 'expert' is familiar with the mixer, as there isn't an on/off toggle switch, only an 'on' light/activate button. The mixer was completely cleaned, hence a piece of ginger would not cause sticking/stuck. Also the mixer doesn't work with cup and blade removed, indicating the problem is internal, not exterman.

    Thanks for your time,

Please take a look at online SPB-6 photo. There is no 'on/off' switch. Also the blade mechanism can be completely removed to test if blender is 'turning'. In all states, blender doesn't move, only lights work.

I suspect a piece of ginger has gotten stuck? I fit's not that, then I would imagine that it is going to be the Motor has jammed up, It should have had no trouble doing any of that, but, they do just go "Phut" Give it a good clean up, check the spindle and if it is till no go, then It has got to be the Motor.

Cuisinart model # SPB-6 (tx) leaking when unit is together, seal is in place, still leaking. Unit is not damaged, please advise.

Check if leaking at the bearing for the blade.

If the bearing has worn, dis-assemble and coat shaft with food-safe grease and re-assemble. Also coat the seals with the grease.

Cusinert blender

I had the same problem and I manaed to fix my Cuisinart SmartPower Duet blender. There are two thermal fuses, one tape attached to each stator winding. Both of mine were blown.

In addition, when the fuses blew, it must have spiked the triac. I had to replace mine. It's the black 3-legged transistor looking device with a small metal heatsink attached to it. This gizmo directly throttles the power to the motor under control of the microprocessor. There are some guides on the internet on how to test it.

Also, the clutch was very hard to remove and needs to be removed to more easily replace the thermal fuses. I clamped down the end of the motor shaft to a bench vise real hard and then I used a 7/8-inch open-end wrench to wedge into the clutch prongs which made it much easier to apply torque. Remember that its screw threads are reversed from normal screws so that it does not unscrew during operation. You have to turn it counter-clockwise to unthread it.

Hope that helps!

Lights blink, but Cuisinart Smartpower 7-speed wont turn.

The thermal fuse is blown. You can buy a replacement from RadioShack for $1.69 You have to remove the old one and solder in the new one. If youre "handy" its very easy. Take it to a repair shop, you pay about the same as a new one. Its too bad that most electronics made today are cheaper to throw away and buy a new one rather than fix them when they break.
