The Canon SD 600 uses a firewire connection right to the powerbook. Not sure what you mean by a card reader. Thanks again,

Iphoto is just for still photos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. Double click on the video and Quicktime will play it. You can use imovie to edit it.

Testimonial: "I have not yet tried typrice's advice, but he was certainly accommodating in answering my second question -- quick, too! Excellent service!"

A card reader is a small inexpensive device. You plug your card in the appropriate slot and the other end into a USB port on your computer. You can then drag and drop the files to a folder you create on your desktop or anywhere else. Works every time. Here's mine...it was $13 at Walmart and it reads 32 different cards and is compatible with pc and mac.

I want to download photographs from my iphone?

Plug in your iPhone to your computer, if it's a PC you will need to use the Photo Import Wizard and if it's a Mac you will need to open iPhoto.

I use a mac. Have all pictures stored on iphone and would love to know how to get the photos to my photo frame. Not sure how to get pictures from iphoto to a memory card or whatever it is I need to do.

Use iPhoto to get the images off your iPhone and onto your Mac, then export you selected images to a media format the photo frame support.
Now without knowing the requirements of the photo frame but going to guess it accepts and USB thumb drive. Once you have imported your images into iPhoto from your iPhone, plug in the USB thumb drive to your Mac. In iPhoto, select the images you wish to move to your photo frame ( either select an album or individual images). Then go to the File Menu and pull down to Export and save the images to your Thumb drive. For best results for image quality on the photo frame you will want to match the export size with the native resolution of the photo frame.

Canon PowerShot SD850 sound files not downloadable to Mac

I had the same problem. On my macbook I open the image capture application (in my applications folder) and a list of all the files (not just photos) on my camera comes up. Here I can choose to import the wav files and the movie (avi) files. I usually just save them to a folder and when I play them my mac finds the right player automatically. Good luck.

My canon powershot sd600 is not downloading to my iphotos

iPhoto deals with still photographs. For videos, try using iMovie or some other video management program.

How do I upload videos?

Hi Elisa, I was having the same problem with my MAC. I have a G5 tower. After much searching, here's what I found:
If you open up Image Capture and have this open when your camera is connected. You will be able to download everything, including AVI files. Once you've downloaded the file, open up iMovie. Import the file into iMovie. Do what you need to do and then you can export it as a Quicktime movie.
Phew!

Can't download large movie files to iphoto : (

i found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.

rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.

-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.

By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.

Video Format

If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.

Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.

Powerbook no longer recognizes my digital camera

The easiest thing to do is to first back up your photos, then trash your current copy of iPhoto. Then reinstall iPhoto from you Install disc. Then go to Apple's website and get the latest updates for iPhoto Reboot, and don't forget to repair your disk permissions!. That should put you back in business! My guess is that your current app may be corrupted and installing a fresh copy will fix that right away! And remember to do a permissions repair every week or so. This will help you keep your Mac running smoothly.
