Driver I've had problems with some games freezing up and got in touch with the company and they told me I had a Mobil Intel(R)945GM Express Chipset family for a video card with a driver from 2006. (I do not understand because I purchased this not even a year ago) They said I need a more recent driver, at least from 2007. I don't understand a lot about computers but I'm sure you do and could you please advise me. Thank you very much for your time.

Hi ya ,the driver is from intel so should be the latest one.

  • make a new folder on your desktop (right click on desktop ,select new folder, then name it say "work".
  • go to this page by double clicking on the blue link below,
  • when there chose the operating system that is on your pc,
  • you should then get the option to download the file, follow the onscreen directions,
  • download it to your desktop work folder so that you know where it is
  • if it needs extracting (if it is compressed),extract it "here"
  • double click on the setup or install file and it should update the driver for you .
good luck

I have Compaq nx6310 and i want to upgrade my RAM ... both my 2gb ram modules work but if they are both in my laptop it wont turn on ... before i had 2 x 512mb ram modules and those work well ... even...

Hi there,

This is from the NX6310's documentation:

Intel 945GM Express Chipset supports up to 4096-MB maximum (2048-MB
533- or 667-MHz SODIMM in slots 1 and 2)
Intel 940GML Express Chipset supports up to 2048-MB maximum (1024-MB
533- or 667-MHz SODIMM in slots 1 and 2)

Basically if you have the Intel 940GML Express Chipset, then the machine only supports 2gb of ram as a maximum, to confirm this, go to Start > right click computer/mycomputer > go to manage > device manager > system devices.
Under there you'll see what chipset you have, if it's the Intel 940GML Express Chipset, you're out of luck, if it's the Intel 945GM, you may just have the wrong speed ram, make sure they are the same speed and compare them to the spec above.

Thanks,

Liam

NEED GRAPHIC DRIVER

It seems that HP only offers a graphic driver for Vista for this laptop. Even though they sold it with XP. You didn't say what OS you're running. It comes up as a Intel 940/943/945 chipset driver.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3353138#N264

The closest I could come on the Intel website is the drivers for the 945GM express chipset. But it has drivers for XP and Win 7.

Just now i formatted my laptop and installed windowsXP. For that i need all kinds of drivers to installed and i dont know were to find this.My laptop model is A135-S4527

I bought a Toshiba A135-S4527 with Windows Vista Premium installed on it. I quickly decided to downgrade to XP Pro. It took me days of searching to locate all the drivers since Toshiba does not provide XP drivers for this laptop. Installing all the updates from the Windows Update site did a lot of the drivers for me. HOWEVER, Windows Update will misdiagnose the display adapter. It will try to install a driver for the Intel 945GM but it must be some generic 945GM driver, because it will not give you full functionality (e.g., multiple display outputs, etc). Use the method I describe below to get the correct 945GM driver for this display adapter.

=====================================================
Hardware and drivers needed to run Win XP Pro on Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527
==============================================================
Run "infinst_autol.exe". This is an Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (now called Intel Chipset Device Software I think). It will identify and load the proper driver files (.inf) for various things. I did this at the end last time, but if done near the beginning, it might take care of things like display adapter, etc. Check Intel's site for the most updated one. Go to http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/

Display adapter is Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
Driver was named win2k_xp14182.exe. I downloaded it initially from
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/deta...1&dwnldid=9683
&agr=n&lang=eng&prdmap=2301

Mouse is Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad
Driver file was called XP_2K.8.3.4.zip. Can be downloaded from the Synaptics website.

Wireless adapter is Atheros AR5006EG
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Ethernet adapter is Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Modem is Toshiba Software modem
Driver can be gotten from Win Vista CD.

During XP installation, drivers were automatically loaded for:
- multimedia card reader
- firewire port (IEEE 1394)
- DVD/CD drive
I have this for Mobile Intel 945GM Express drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=2301

Using Atheros AR5xxx 5.3.0.35 for wireless drivers:
http://www.opendrivers.com/downloado...php?href=47456

Realtek High Definition Audio 5.10.0.5436
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...ver-R170.shtml

SmartCard 2.0.0.6
Haven't looked

Intel Chipset 8.3.0.1013
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...13499&lang=eng

Realtek RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet NIC
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/54582

I used a program called "driver genius" and it located the driver versions needed for this laptop.

How can I change the resolution from 1280 x 800? This is the highest possible according to the display setttings. I have removed the generic pNp monitor. I am running Vista Business. The display adapter is...

Graphics Unable to use the native resolution, such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050 and 1440x900 circuit388.gif Symptom(s):
On some displays, users may be unable to use the native resolution when using Intel® chipset graphics. Resolutions such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050, and 1440x900 are not available in graphics properties.

Cause:
The display's EDID is not read properly when connected to some digital flat panel displays. Display devices describe its capabilities by sending EDID (Extended Display Information Data) to the computer.

Solution:
Intel has released a graphics driver to specifically address this issue; however, there may be side effects to this solution such as longer than normal resume times from standby. This solution will only work with external displays such as DFP displays connected to the computer's VGA port. This driver is not designed to address issues with a notebook's built-in display (Local Flat Panel) or with TV’s connected to the system. This driver is provided as is. Intel has not tested, and does not guarantee, the operation of the driver for this purpose.

I have intel-945GM express chipset, and i need to play a game that needs shader model 3 please advice

firstly you need to have a pci express graphics card inorder to play new games. Intel chipsets are NOT for playing games!! You should get at least a Nvidia 8600gts or ati 3650 or similar to game properly- presuming that you have a pci express slot. Be warned that if you get a new graphics card dont go by the series eg, 8 series or 9 series- a 8600gts is better than a 9400gt. A nice graphics card for the money is the nvidia 9600gt. Good luck upgrading
