How do you remove the glove box lock form a 1962 corvette?

I also would push in on the glove box while holding the release button also.That will take some pressure on the latch inside

go to junk yard ,local auto store or dealer for loch or whole glovebox door --replacement easy lock remove the screw and replace lock ==whole door remove the screws and replace

open the glove box and check to see if the lock is held in by 2 screws or a "c" clip. Remove them /it and the lock will come out . The lock/barrel and the latch tongue will be integral and will need replacing as a unit.

if you can open the door, there is a small 'window' on the case inside the glove box. With a pointed tool (paper clip?) there is a tab you need to push in through the window. While holding the tab down, spin the cylinder to remove. If it is a locking cylinder, while pushing the tab down, insert the key. This will hold the tab down. Then you can turn the cylinder to remove it.

there are a few clips when you open the box use a small screwdriver and prise out these clips the inside of the box will come out if its just the lock there should be screws keeping the door together remove these and it should come apart

Hello, to take lock out of the glove box door handle you have to follow these steps:
1. You have to open the box door.

2. Push latch to close position

3. Put in lock position and remove the key

4. Push in tab

5. Insert the key

6. Turn the key to unlatch the position and pull lock out.

7. If latch needs to be replace, UN-screw collar

8. Reverse to re-install .

If the rear lock box has its own key lockable with external key you are ok if it doesn't then it is considered accessible and is not legal to carry loaded if it unloaded you are ok if it is in the lock box by Federal law ck state law for changes Virginia is the worst to deal with

If you hang upside down and look up under the glove box there may be access to reach up behind the door, small hands may be a help here, but comprehension on removeing what may be jammed is a different story.
