You can try.. turn on the monitor if it just shows the white screen then turn it off then turn on instantly. Even then, if the screen continues to be white (blank) then turn off the screen, unplug the monitor then again plug it after a minute and check.
If you look at the screen at a sharp angle and you see a faint Windows image then the problem is a back light fault. This fault can be caused by a faulty inverter board that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp OR the CCFL lamp is faulty. The CCFL lamp is a very small diameter fluro lamp/tube and just before they fail completely they product a pinkish light. Replacement inverter and CCFL lamp are available from this WEB site. www.lcdparts.net
mrmadgbull, How long will e17tg display the WIN-desktop before it goes to BLACK screen? Is it 1, 2 ...4, 5.....20 seconds? How old is unit? Does unit have internal ac to dc SMPS or external (lay on floor) SMPS? Did problem occur suddenly? What do you see on screen after "it" goes black and you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen? Can you still see some icons being faintly displayed?? Is unit out of it's warranty period? If lcd panel is both black and blank, "switch-mode-power-supply" could be in full shutdown mode. If you see desktop, SMPS is in partial shutdown mode. You or electronics technician will need to evaluate and repair unit. Read my FIXYA profile for more options you may have open to you. Your monitor no different than any other "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" backlit LCD monitor. There is a lot of DIY videos on YOUTUBE that deal with this type of monitor problem. Lots of tech types pick-up "black screen" lcd monitors at resale shops and refurbish them for less than $20 total cost, and they will work for another 2 -4 years. Do your research before making hasty decisions. If pocket is deep with disposable income, then just use e17tg as trade-in for new wide screen. Hope this was of some help. 12fixlouie
The Problem may be due to the defective inverter unit inside the monitor. Dry to resolder if any dry joint on the inverter PCB or replace the inverter board.
If there is a faint image in the background it is the coils on the planar if no image it is either the invertor or the backlight
If you have a faint image resolder the coils or replace them
Seems you need a new Lcd assembly i can provide you with one very cheaply please contact me at [email protected] I can sen you a new Lcd or u can send me the phone for repair
Could be either but most likely the monitor or cable depending on your setup. Hate to say it but the only way to tell is to try replacing one. The monitor is the easiest. (If you buy one and it doesnt fix it, you can always return)
