Just guessing, here. The reset is actually a "Ground Fault Interrupter" called a GFI. It's there to cut of power in case of a dangerous electrical condition--which you probably don't have.

Did you unplug the unit? If not do so, let the GFI cool for several minutes, and try to reset again. They're pretty hard to push in, maybe use a fingernail, you must hear a click or it's not reset.

Is there water in the outdoor unit, or is it filled with snow? This is the most likely cause of an actual GFI fault.

If the GFI itself has failed (unlikely), you could replace the entire power cord. You should then maintain safety by installing a GFI circuit breaker on that circuit, or you'll be in violation of codes that might affect your homeowners insurance.

There could actually be a problem with the unit. This would be that an electrical wire has come loose and is contacting the metal chassis, creating a shock hazard. Unlikely but possible.

If the receptacal you're plugging into is old and worn it might the problem. Worn receptacles might actually have tiny electrical arcs inside, which can trip a GFI. At a couple of bucks (DIY) it's worth a shot.

If there's actually an electrical fault in the unit it can be found and repaired, but the cost of repair could very well be more than it's worth. Warranty?

I have a Mitsubishi WD 60738 and the stand by light on the front of the tv was staying on and was orange. I removed the power supply and blew out all the dust and reinstalled the power supply and now the...

Hello Jeff;
If the TV does not turn on or off, does not respond to the remote
control or the control panel buttons, or has audio but no video:
1.) Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds. The TV will turn off.
2.) Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.

If the TV does not respond to the remote control or to the control-panel buttons and TV will not power on or off.
• Unplug the AC power cord for 10 seconds.
• Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for 10
seconds to perform a system reset.

If the TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to flash:
• Momentary power fluctuation can cause the TV to turn off to prevent damage. Wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn the TV on again.
• If the TV does not stay on, press the POWER button on the
control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line power conditioner/surge protector.
• An unusual digital signal may have been received, triggering a
protection circuit. Wait for the light to stop flashing and turn TV
on.

If the TV will not power off, press the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset.

Should you still have problems, call for assistance at 1(800) 332-2119

I would not recommend using compressed air or any other method that would blow dust around- since the dust could make its way into the set's circuitry via the grille or vents and cause problems. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment instead.

Sometimes the Canon printers which use PG-5BK/CL-8 colour cartridges with chips will give error mesaages like 6502 or other types of error meaasge to do with the cartridges, which has the orange light flashing and the printer will not work. Follow this procedure which quite often resets the printer and allows it to resume printing.

When error is indicated, turn power switch off so green light is extinguished.

First hold down resume button and then hold down power button so both are held down at same time

When green light comes on, continue holding down power button and let resume button go, then press resume button twice. Then let power button go.

Then press resume button four times, power button should be releasedbefore doing this.

Wait until printer settles down, if power is off, turn on. If power will not come on, remove power cord from back of printer, then wait 15 seconds before plugging back in again and turn power on. This normally solves the error problem - if not go through same procedure again.

Incidentally, you may find that if the chips had previously been disabled, the low ink warnings are showing againand they will have to be disabled once more. This would indicate that the above procedure clears the firmware memory of the disabling of the chips, this may be usefull if you need some warranty work done on you printer after the chips had been disabled. Canon does warn that disabling the chips may result in the printer's warranty being voided

The reset button on the power cord has to be really pushed in until you feel a click. It is a soft button, so you might think you have pushed it in enough but you must feel the click. After the first reset you no longer have to press the button unless you have other electrical power issues that trip the button.

PROBLEM COPYING WITH MY ALL- IN- ONE

This message is inbuilt into most Canon printers, there is spongy thing in the printer which when fills up fires the message (it's mostly a counter in the printer, which can be reset more later...), per Canon this can only be dealt with in a lab but some of the more adventurous have tried cleaning it by themselves. Note that in a lab they won't clean it, it's a part that needs replacing and it might cost around $60. In most Canon printers there is a reset procedure that can reset the error and allow you to print some more before handling it again. Following are the reset procedures for some of the Printers: (not that F60 isn't listed here) Canon GENERIC "S" SERIES RESET CODE Waste Ink Counter Reset. (1) Turn off the printer. (2) Press and hold the RESUME button, then press and hold the POWER button. (3) Release the RESUME button, Next press and release the RESUME button two(2) more times in succession. Note: you are still holding the POWER button). The printer's carriage will "reset" or move momentarily. If the above was properly performed the printer will enter the "Service Mode". (4) Press the RESUME button 4 times, this will select the clear waste ink counter function. The lamp will alternate (change) color with each key press. 1.
