We have Mitsubishi 40" television, model # CS-40503, which has performed flawlessly since we bought it. Just recently, the picture has occasionally shrunk to approximately a 4" horizontal picture accross the middle of the screen. The sound and color remain great, just everything gets compressed. This condition may last a few days then miraculously disappear. But just when you think everything is OK the screen may majically shrink before your eyes. Is my television ready to give up the ghost or does the diagnosis indicate a minor repair will provide us with some additional viewing pleasure.
I have one of these TVs and still love it. The manual says that the weight is listed at 250lbs (approx.). Most of the TV stands in retail stores only hold up to 240lbs., so that is something to consider.

There were in fact bad solder connections on the vertical deflerctor IC, Unfortunately, there were also two capacitors on the same item needing replacement. Since one of them had to be ordered, I cannot at this time say the problem has been solved. But hopefully the end result will be a couple of mor eyears of great service for about a $230 repair charge. Thanks!
