If its in warrenty call them they will send you a new one, if its out of warrenty check your circuit board for corrision. to do this UNPLUG the system, take the 4 screws out of the peice with the display on it and pick it up there you will find a circuit board. Mine had a corroded resistor. i went to radio shack found a new one (a two pack for $1.50) soldered it on good to go works great. This seems to be a common problem i have read online.

I went to Radio Shack looking for this resistor and they asked me for the watts and ohms. Can you please help me with those numbers? Thanks

100-0 ohm 1 watt item #2710152. is the resistor broken? I found a way to bypass the circit board if that dont work than you just use a timer

Thanks Gary. I need to get it ASAP since my pool is been without chlorine for a few days now.

Just order the bridge rectifier part # kbpc2501 from eBay or if you are lucky enough to have a electronic store nearby. It cost me around $5 from eBay. Just put it on the same way you took the old one off. I did have to put on two spade connectors because two of them were soldered on. You can get spade connectors for real cheap at any hardware or auto store. Takes minutes to do and a lot cheaper than a new one.

Gerald Lay does this appear to be the common problem with the Intex saltwater systems? I have 2 systems that are doing the same exact thing

  • Anonymous May 22, 2020

Gerald Lay....I cannont thank you enough for this part suggestion. Service light after 1 minute. I rewired to bypass sensors with no luck. Ordered this part from ebay and now we are making chlorine. Thank YOU.

What is the recommended end-of-season maintenance for the chlorinating pump?

According to the Intex website, the following maintenance is required for this product:

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.)

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements:

1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell.

2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110) or a Red LED will light up. (Model 6110).If the condition is not addressed, the system will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.

The service light is lit on my Intex CS8111 saltwater pump/filter. what needs done to get service light off?

You can research forums on how to open and adjust the resisters inside to remove the service light.. I read some and probably will not attemp... Right now, Wal-mart (on line only) is selling the 8110 unit for $149.00 with a free $50.00 gift card.. That's like paying $99.00. I'm buying one for spare!! I'm pretty good with electronics, but will not attemp on this unit... Good luck!

Service light is on. Cleaned with vinegar as instructed in the manual. Light still comes on

Hello,
Service light is not a consumer fix

If you have your receipt and it is less than 2 years old call Intex
They will e-mail you a form you will fill it out and fax it back to them
you will have a new unit within days

My pool pump has stopped working. It reads "service". It was cleaned but still not working

Hello,
As stated in the manual the actual service indication is an Intex situation no matter what. There is no resetting when this light comes on.
Give them a call. If you have a valid receipt and it is under 2 years old Intex will send out a new one.
