Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television
I have a Toshiba 57H81. The picture is going bad - the blue tint in the picture is skewed to make it look 3D. Thanks to the help of answers from this site and my own research, I found out that the convergence chip(s) are going bad. Apparently my model has 2 STK392-110 IC's that need replaced. I got an estimate of $400 to fix my tv. However, I also found 2 STK392-180 IC's (recommended for higher wattage and less prone to failure) for a cost of $15. So idealy, I would like to fix the problem myself. However, I cannot find the bloody chips! Is there a site or manual I can find that will describe the location of these illusive chips? Or would someone actually be able to tell me?
Hello if you can use a soldering iron you shouldn't have any problems but you will need to test the resistor in front of the ic and the capacitors at either end of the ic ! the ic usually located to the right hand side of the tv behind the tuner board connected to metal frame called a heatsink 2 big black chip good luck
