We have a Neechi Supernova Ultra Mark II sewing machine - was running just fine but suddenly nothing happens when you depress the foot pedal - the motor is trying to turn belt, it just strains. Does anyone know what the cause of this could be and how to rectify?

make sure the plug for the foot pedal is connected securely to the machine.
could be the plug in the machine has a problem even tho the foot petal is plugged in
could be the foot petal has gone out and needs to be checked.
This is most likely a fault in the foot control. Normally supplied with this machine is a Type 10 and this can be fixed quite easily but probably not by the machine's owner unless you have some electrical and mechanical experience.
If you have knowledge of and access to a multimeter, you can test it. What working properly, you will find the following:
Pedal released: resistance is infinite (anything around 4k Ohms or less and the machine will run).
Heel pressed: resistance is about 10k Ohms.
Toe steadily pressed from nothing to all the way down: resistance is infinite then after a small depression, jumps to about 4k Ohms steadily decreasing to zero as the pedal reaches all the way down.
Your problem, being at the point where the pedal isn't pressed suggests that there's some contamination in the pedal. It's also possible that you have a type 365 pedal (as used on the 930) and this is more likely to give this kind of trouble due to the use of carbon brushes in this foot pedal.
..... what do you mean by 'manually sew a few stitches'?
If you test your foot control on another machine or vice versa, you can verify if it is the control. Has it sewn a little erratically lately? Could be the contact tracer pins in the foot control.
The foot pedal has nothing to do with this. You machine is telling you that you have the wrong presser foot on the machine for what you are trying to do.
Do you have your manual? Mine tells me what foot goes with which stitch.
it's possible that the motor went out or the foot pedal could have gone out. it would be a good idea to have the machine checked at a sewing machine shop
Yep same thing .....the thing is possessed started running by itself when I was at the iron. Dealer said never heard of such a thing and acted like it was me. Also will not stop sewing when take foot off pedal. Dealer charged me $95 to clean machine and said nothing wrong with foot pedal. Ugh. Has anyone replaced foot pedal and found the problem to stop properly?
