Dead keyboard and touchpad at login prompt

Try downloading ubuntu linux live cd. You can boot directly into linux without installing it. See if your keyboard and touchpad work in there. If not then it is a hardware problem. If it does work you may want to consider backing up your files and reinstalling windows.

Acer Aspire 5100-3357 lost function of keyboard, touchpad and USB

hello, this has been one of the most reported problem with the 5100 model. i have 2 of them, and they have done the same thing! one i had 2 find and install a new mainboard-400 bucks! not very cost friendly. i did post a solution more than a year ago, but it is a work around that let me use the acer with the dead keyboard,touchpad,usb- you must buy a pcmcia usb card, it goes in the slot on the left side of the acer 5100. then a usb mouse and keyboard will work. (you can get this cardbus adapter cheap, as 400 bucks is 2 much. these pcmcia cardbus card come with 2 or 4 ports. this will let you use the pc, it has been a great solution for me and a lot of others, been in use over a year like this. acer is no help, unless you wish 2 spend a large amount of $. the one with the new board lasted about 8 months before the usb port stopped working for the second time, i then got a second cardbus usb card and have usb again. sorry for your problem.. good luck! do as i say and the acer will work again.( a problem model) just search for pcmcia usb cardbus you will find many 2 choose from- i picked the ones with the NEC chipset, as these are reliable! be well!

Aspire 5101wlmi

If you have got a usb mouse plug it into your computer then go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager and go to pointing devices. Right click on the + sign next to keyboard and touchpad, click on uninstall. Then reboot your machine, take the usb mouse out. Windows will reload the correct drivers for the keyboard and touchpad as new hardware and your problem should be resolved.

I hope this helps

Touchpad and keypad problem

if it does'nt work at all, use a usb mouse to do this proceedure.

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mice and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad and select uninstall, do the same on the keyboard line and then restart the pc, remove usb mouse.

Both touchpad and keyboard will be reinstalled and then ready to use again

Acer 5101 AWLMI orbicam problem!

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
