Can't log on to MacBook Pro. I forgot password. It will go no where else

Press the Command and R keys at the same time when the grey screen appears and hold them until you see the Apple logo. A small loading bar will appear under the logo. Sit tight as your system boots into Recovery Mode. Click the Utilities tab in the top menu bar, select Terminal, type resetpassword and press Enter

Most likely your Hard drive has gone bad. Hard Drives typically last anywhere from 3-5 years. The grey screen with the apple signifies that it found a Hard drive with your OS (Software) installed but it can't seem to go past that because the Hard Drive may be failing.

Sounds like your best bet is to restart with the Mac OS disk in the drive and holding down the C key. Then reinstall the system OS ... you should be able to do so without removing or altering any of your info files.

Sounds like a GPU problem to me.

You can go diy approach which involves taking the laptop totally apart and then heating up the GPU with a heat gun.

If you google you'll find guides for this.

Best of luck!

My ibook g4 has a blue screen when it comes on

It appears that your system is corrupted or the hard drive is damaged. Try re-installing the system software from the CD by holding down the C key during start up. Then run Disc Utilities to check the hard drive.

My iBook wont properly start up!

This suggestion is generic:

Contact the tech support for verification.

There may be something set up to auto-open, or the operating system has to be re-installed. It sounds like something may be corrupted.

If you do not get any hardware warnings, then most likely it is the operating system.

Ipod nano 1st generation trouble! help!

Sounds like a corrupt hard drive.

put it into disk mode

  1. Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
  2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Find it in "my computer", right click it and select format. Choose the FAT32 option and hit OK.

Once its done, restart your computer and plug in your pod. Start itunes and it should automatically reinstall the ipod firmware.
