Motorola T5622 VOX Not Activating with Autocom Sys I have an Autocom (Kit 300) motorbike coms system. I bought the accessory cord that interfaces to the Motorola T5622, for VOX I have followed the Motorola instructions. i.e 1) Switch radio off 2) insert accessory cord switch radio on. A flashing 'speaking' icon should then appear to indicate that the VOX is active. What condition should there be at the accessory plug, the input to the radio (Resistance, voltage ???) so that I can establish whether the autocom needs setting or the Motorola T5622 is defective.

    Hi

Just browsing the net for an answer to my problem and found your post. I have the exact same problem with my StarCom1 kit and the Motorola T5622.

Just can't seem to get the VOX to activate. Will keep an eye on your post in case you get a result and will let you know if I find any answers!

    Cheers

Have the same problem with the t5622 bought with accessory ear plug which, according to the instructions enclosed, should work as a hands free operation trigger while it works only as another push-to-transmit accessory which of course is NOT a hands-free operation. And no flashing icon on the screen after plugging in the accessory plug & microphone. It is a second piece taken from the shop so, it is possible it is a design issue? An error in the instruction? A wrong accessory enclosed? But the same accessory is shown in the instruction. :(

Hi Folks, two seperate checks to do - to check vox on autocom and transmit on motorola. With the T5622 unconnected to anything, does the push transmit button work - e.g. does it make the beep noise at the end of transmission?

Does your autocom work with any other sound sources - i.e. mp3 player so you can hear music. Does this mute when you speak ? (it should if vox is working). Note that in this setup vox is provided by autocom - NOT BY THE T5622. The instructions you mention are for the motorola vox kit.

Wire the two together and you should get the motorola beeping through your autocom at the end of transmit - that's what my kit 200 does with my T5622.

I want to attach an external antenna to a Motorol T5622 radio

Yes, you can, but the antenna must be designed for the same frequency. And remember in this way you have no protection on the Motorola T5622 radio. Some atmospheric discharge can destroy your Moto. :) And if the antenna is to big the final amplifier MOSFET (usually 2SK3756) will fail to work.

One unit you dont have to press the buttn to talk

Your radio is in VOX (voice activated) mode. Here is a link to the user manual page http://shop.giantintl.com/Manuals.asp look for your model in the pulldown. Look up VOX.
Another issue which can cause VOX to be on all the time is when someone inadvertently plugs in an audio device with the radio turned on. (Always have the radio turned off when attaching any accessories or audio device.)

Best regards.

Vox

In order to use VOX on your radio you will need a VOX capable accessory OR you can use iVOX which allows you to use talk hands free without an accessory. The instruction for both these features can be found on page 22 in the user guide.
You will need to fill in the "dot" with a "." because Fixya is not allowing insertion of links currently: giantintl dot com/ContentManage-new/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf
Keep in mind when using VOX the radio will open up its transmitter with any noise, not just exclusively voices. So if you are in a high noise environment you will not be able to use VOX or iVOX.
Best regards.

How do you disable the VOX setting on a Talkabout MR350 2 way radios. I wan to use it with a headset, but do not want VOX on.

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/MR350-351%20User%20Guide%2012-16-08%20KEM-PK14190-90.pdf You will find the instructions for VOX and iVOX on the bottom of page one, and at the beginning of page 2.

Be certain when plugging in your audio accessory that the radio is turned off. If the radio is left on inadvertently, you would have no control over the VOX settings, it would immediately be in a confused VOX mode.

Also, with most Motorola radios, if VOX begins to occur, turn off the radio, and then re-insert the audio device plug. And in some instances, pressing the PTT on the radio when you are having a VOX occurrence will put the radio back to push-to-talk status.

Best regards.

Hi I have the T5622 talkabout with a PTT headset. I can transmit OK but I am not receiving anything other than a ''click'' when the other person transmits. I have tested the headset and I am able to recive...

Here a few thoughts which come to mind.
1. You do not mention whether the radios communicate with the headset no on the radio. I will at this point, assume they do.
2. Be certain to have the radio SHUT OFF when plugging in the audio device.
3. Check your VOX settings. It could be your radio is going into VOX mode.
4. Only use the PTT button on the headset. Do not press the PTT on the radio at any time while using the headset.
5. Check that you have CALL TONES shut off.
6. Lastly, if nothing else works, go back to a basic mode, and set both radios where there are no special features turned on. ie turn off CODE, Qt Filter, VOX, Call Tones, etc.

Can Motorola TA200/T5622 work with newer T5000?

A 22 channel transceiver is an American system call FRS/GMRS radios which are actually illegal in the UK and rest of europe. They use different frequencies completely and will not work together on you other PMR radios.

How do I set my sx700 radio to work with hands-free headsets? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hands-Free Use With Accessories (VOX)
You can transmit hands-free with the use of optional accessories. Once
VOX is turned on, the radio detects your voice and transmits when you
speak.
1. Turn the radio off and plug the VOX accessory into the accessory
port.
2. Turn the radio on. VOX shows on the display.
3. Adjust the volume appropriately by rotating the volume knob . Lower the volume
before placing the accessory on your head or in your ear.
4. To turn off, simply remove accessory.
Note: There is a short delay between the time you start talking and
when the radio transmits. There is a short delay before the
transmission is completed.

Owners Manual: http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/SX700_userguide.pdf

You must be using a VOX capable accessory. Generally this is an accessory without an in-line PTT.
