Check the element. If you have a multimeter check the ohms, If it reads OL its a bad element

Most likely cause is the bake element/ignitor.

GE Profile PT916SM1SS will not heat up past 290

Hi,

please check that the oven isn't leaking heat into another area. Or maybe your settings need some calibration or the temperature sensor for the oven is off by 60 degrees. If this is the case, changing the temperature setting to 410 should bring the internal temperature to 350 degrees. Please try this.

Thank you.

My ge profile oven is 18yrs.old never had a problem! all of a sudden the oven is not working , my cook top is fine, what do you suggest? thank you doreen

in the oven there are usually two heating elements. one is on the bottom which is the one mostly used and one is inside the oven but on top of the ceiling of the oven compartment. (this is used for broiling food) if you set your oven to broil, check to see if the heating element on the ceiling of oven is red. I almost bet it is. normally the bottom element will go out. these can be changed.

My ge jtp56woa1ww double electric oven will not bake in the top oven. broiler in the top oven seam fine. Lower oven functions great in both features. What to do?

Sounds like the bottom element, or element wire in the top oven is burned out, Check to see if the element is broken, or swollen. Two signs of a burned element.

GE Profile Stove baking option not working

Possibly the bake igniter, the temperature sensor or the electronic oven clock/control. Does broil mode heat properly or does it run cool also? If broil heats to the proper temperature then the temperature sensor is probably ok. That leaves the ignitor or the controller which takes some more troubleshooting. If it is the controller, we repair them at www.fixyourboard.com.
