A 954 nvram error can be reset by holding the right arrow go and return buttons untill there is movement in the display. in most cases this is just a bandage and the error will return or manifest itself in the form of other errors. nvram is the control code and if it is corrupted it can cause a multitute of errors to occur.for reliabilities sake its better to replace the engine board.

954 nvram errors are created by 2 things both located on the engine board. one of these being a eprom located in the lower right hand corner of the board at q6. the other being the nvram chip itself located at u15 middle of the board far left hand side.percentage wise 65% the eprom 35% the nvram chip. this information comes from.
this error can most times be reset by holding the right arrow go and return buttons depressed then power on the printer untill the control panel lights up. it will then go to restoring factory defaults then to ready takes about 3 or 4 minutes tops. hope this helps you out. have a great one
