IBM 3580 Lto3 drive showing in Device manager but not showing in ntbackup while taking bkp

I am guessing you don,t have a driver installed for this device.
Just manually add the driver but look for LTO as the MANUFACTURER - there is a generic driver in there which should work fine.
Better still, also upgrade your backup program - even to an old copy of backup exec. It has proper cataloguing and also its own driver family too.

Ts3200 dropped log out

Hi Edson

It sounds like the new drive may also be faulty.

Dont forget to make sure that all the scsi ID jumpers and switches are set exactly the same as the one you removed.

Ultrium 2 drive automatically ejects tape

Are you using the correct tape? If you try and use an LTO3 or LTO4 tape then it will just eject.

Does the drive make a clattering sound when first turned on and it goes through its POST ?

If the answer is YES then the drive has had a damaged tape loaded into it and the drive now needs repair.

Goto www.tape-drive-repair.com for repair or replacement options as these are quite inexpensive these days

Also try inspecting your media as per the guide here.
http://tape-drive-repair.com/tools-and-information/lto-media-inspection-guide/

If you find any damaged tapes then make sure to throw them away as should you reload these tapes they will go on to break your LTO drive again.

Receiving error code BB 95 on my IBm 3581-L38 Tape Drive. What is this error code?

never asked about error "5". The error "BB" indicated there is a hardware issue relating to the unload process. You can find your answer here... http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S7000920&aid=1

Looking for documentation on the jumpers on the back of the IBM LTO 3 (39M5657) tape drive. Thanks!

the jumpers most like to set SCSI ID, you can just jump it and check if the ID changed from host, it doesn't need a document usually.
