I have an epson RX560 that wont recognize an ink cartridge. I have already successfully used the multiuse chip on previous cartridge, but when I changed cartridge it showed fault message. I have tried gently wiping chip to clean and pressing cartridge firmly in place. But now it wont even recognize an epson cartridge.Any suggestions I am so frustrated with it.

Epson may also display an error message if you refill the ink cartridges.

Don't let your ink levels drop below 25% before refilling and resetting your cartridges. There is an inner and an outer chip on these cartridges. The inner chip disables the outer chip when it's contacts are no longer bathed in ink. So, it doesn't matter if you "reset" the outer chip after refilling your empty cartridge because the chip was disabled. I'm really curious how you refilled these cartridges yourself without souring yourself on refilling from the experience. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I refilled a set of these cartridges when we had replacement chips available (we don't now because our chip distributor was violating Epson patents) and it was an absolute mess, took forever, and the cartridges still didn't work in our test printer.

No matter what you do, it will not recognize it.

Are you using genuine epson cartridges? Many generics simply dont work on the newer printers. Once the printer decides the cartridge is empty, it sends a signal to the chip and that's it. You might hear ink, but if the chip says empty you can't use it. It also has the annoying habit of doing this when there's still 10-15% of the ink left.
I use reusable cartridges from http://www.ccs-digital.com They hold 2/3 more ink and the chips automatically reset to full if you remove and re-insert the cartridge. Instead of replacing the entire cartridge when it's empty, you pop out an internal ink tank and replace just that. So you know the chip has already been recognized by your printer. The ink tanks cost under $3. I think these are a brilliant invention.

and use it to Reset counters.

Take the cartridge out and put them back in, make sure that you will hear a click. If your going to have the same error, you need to contact Epson Technical Support. The cartridge might be defective. Here's they're number

yes i have a epson rx560 i brought a contiouous ink system the thing you must watch out for when buying copy ink is that they work with all modles or rx560 as some ink will only work befor printer made before 1 march 2007 and some will only work after made 2007
