Will not load says cannotcreate this file G;antitheftw.bmp have reloaded tomtom home and still same.

I have down loaded western map from tomtom home for free and all my map of the UK vanished and now there is no map in my tomtom will any one help me out to solve my mysterious problem rasana

Try this. Connect you tt 510 to the computer and then turn it on in that order. If tt home starts up just exit out of it. Make a backup of the tt's drive (make a new folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the tt into the folder). THIS IS IMPORTANT. DO NOT MAKE A BACKUP USING TT HOME!!! This will take awhile so be patient. After you have made the backup reformat your tt (this will wipe the card clean). After reformatting your device open tt home it will reload your os. This will take two times of updating to get you to navcore 7.9XX. After this has finished go to your backup and copy and paste the maps and bmp's (there are three bmp's) back onto the root of your device (instead of opening your drive just hover over the drive letter and right click the paste). You should be good to go.

You can look in the tomtom voices directory with windows explorer while tomtom is hooked to the pc, be sure the voices files are in the voices directory on tomtom.

I have managed to solve the problem of loading a new map on my Go700 using a Mac. I discovered that Tomtom is incompatible with the Leopad operaying system, despite the protestations of the idiots at Tomtom ,so I reverted to an older Mac using Tiger.
Taking the instructions given to crinold, I tried to erase the disc on the 700 using home 1.5 - and it didn't work. So I went to disc utilities, highlighted and erased the Tomtom disc, and opened home 2,5. After being refused entry several times, like being told to load an already loaded device, I persevered, and managed, slowly, to add the map I had bought for 78 euros. T]One point oif interes is that when I bought the map, they site stated it would cost 63 pounds sterling, but switched it to euros when the invoice arrived. at a rate very favourable to Tomtom - funny, that.
This is sharp practice,probably illegal in many countries,, but, to be honest, dealing with the mysterious Tomtom company is so frustrating, that I don't have the time or inclination to fight them for the money they cheated from me.
How they survive with such an awful product and extremely bad after sales service is hard to understand - perhaps they won't ... we live in hope.

Connect the one you are having trouble withto your computer .Then go to My Computer and click on the drive letter of your tt. The drive will open and show you the files on your device.
A word of advice you cannot just put the files from your working tt onto the device that is not working. There are codes that identify each individual unit and if the codes are not for that device it will not work. Your best bet is to backup the files on the device not working (do not use tt home to do this. Make a folder on your desktop and copy and paste the files to this folder). Make sure your computer is set to show all files (go to control panel, folder options, view and make sure, show hidden files and folders is checked). After making a backup reformat the drive on your device, start tt home and it will load a new os onto your device. After you have done this copy and paste the maps and bmp's back onto your device and you should be ready to go.

For a Gox20:
The splash image, or startup image, must be named splashw.bmp
The shut down image must be named antitheftw.bmp

Both images must be 480x272 pixels big.
All images should reside at the root of the unit.

When on test or demo , the tomtom runs on a demo menue list loaded onto the sd card. if the data file on this list is corrupted the tomtom will only complete the demo journey up to the corrupted point in the list. I would suggest that you reload your backup onto your SD card . ( Hopefully you did make a backup to your PC ? ). Other than that , you could try contacting tomtom and ask them which file you need to replace on your SD card in order to replace the corrupted file. You could then either download it from tomtom website or copy it from someone elses tomtom SD card.

If your device only shows a cross after you turn it on, the TomTom application is not installed or cannot be found.



To solve this, follow the steps below.

Manually remove the TomTom application:
Reset your device.

Connect your device to your computer.

Turn on your device by pressing the power button for 5 seconds.

Do one of the following:
Windows: Click Start > My Computer and then double-click the Removable Disk for your TomTom device.
Macintosh: Double-click the desktop icon for your TomTom device.

Delete all files except the following:
Do not delete any of the folders!
Do not delete the files antitheftw.bmp, lowbatteryw.bmp and splashw.bmp (if present)!



Reinstall the TomTom application:
Start TomTom HOME

Select an option:
I previously updated my device on this computer
I never updated my device on this computer

Click Done and then click Device > Disconnect Device.
Your device should now start up again. If it hasn't started up after 10 seconds, press the On/off button.
